Poem#1: Uncommitted absence.

There is sorrow in
knowing the best
parts of you are
ephemeral,
in realizing that
all the hollow
places we tried to
fill are now archaic.

I will try to play
back the memories,
even the ones that
obliterated my faith,

and I only ask
for you to take my
hand and listen

as the strings softly
call us forward.

I'll remind you
why we're not meant
to be this separated.

When we've both
forgotten the right words,
and our mouths are
dry, canyons in our hearts,
we'll somehow still
find a way to speak.

Even if it's the
most heartbreaking
melodies that rush
into corroded lungs,

we have to start
somewhere.

Poem #2 : Lose you now

Leave now those faces
Inside my dark dreams -
No, but what of the traces, so
Distant they seem?
Slowly they’re slipping,
Each moment less near -
Yesterday’s kisses, today’s real fear.

Streams that are flowing
Towards a sheer fall,
Instruct a now knowing:
Reverse and stand tall!
Leave doubt in the gutter,
In with sunshine and facts.
Now’s the time to utter:
Go get that love back!

You joke to me;
"Trade me in
for a newer model."
-
I would sooner
rip out
my own heart
than to
lose you now...
-
You are my lifeline
in this cruel world-
The balm
that healed
my broken soul-
A continual note
that plays
a tune
that only I can hear...
-
I truly began
to live-
to love-
when you came
into my life...
-
So there will no
"trading you in"
for losing you
would be the end
of me...
