Ann Marie....what is with you going lock happy? You seem to lock forums on a whim, just because you feel like it. Where in the forum rules does it say that the forums need to serve a purpose? Now, moving forums to where they belong, I can understand, but just locking them because YOU think they aren't worthy enough is kind of egotistical, don't you think?

Sure, these posts were pointless, but they were in the fun and humor section, and where in the rules does it state that there has to be a point? Like, it's in humor, which advertises "fun things to do". So maybe for some, it's fun to try and make it to 700 posts or whatever? But they can't, because the forums keep getting locked.

And they were not locked "on a whim" as you stated earlier... They were locked because of length. I edited my final post on them to clarify that... I'm sorry if it wasn't obvious to you. I know I stated in another thread (the one about that thread with 3000 and some posts not opening) that I would be locking threads when they got to the 400-500 range...Besides, Dainz and Janis can see what we do... if I was out of line, I'm sure I would be warned.

Also, when Janis implemented the Lock feature, he told us, "you can lock thread. use it to stop very long and very useless discussions."

Suggestion, open the chat room back up.

Hmmm...Bob, I think you are right. I take back what I said. These posts are NOT pointless. The point of them would be to make it to 700 posts or whatever. I was not aware that forums were to be deleted for length though, so do what needs to be done. And Janis and Dainz told the mods that they could delete a forum when it gets lengthy and useless...well using the word useless seems wrong, because if people are still posting in it, then it is obviously of some use to somebody. But I can understand the length thing, but perhaps that should be stated in the forum rules so that people understand that if they start a post to make it to 700 or 1000, it ain't gonna happen.
