I used to have the same problem with my dad (who is in the military). Your dad is just trying to look out for you so you dont end up messed up or how parents usually stereotype the average "goth." He might be thinking "if i let her wear black nail polish, what will she want to defy me after that?" Show him that you're the same person under the black nail polish, it's jsut a style you want to try out and experiment with. Most adults dont get that if they ban something, chances are we'll want to do it more than before. It's just our nature. My dad eventually just gave up and said go ahead, i experimented, and now i hardly ever wear it (though it's a permanent fixture on my toes cause i like it there). Hope that helps :)

I can relate to this from your perspective, gees Dad she's not smoking pot or shooting heroin its black nail polish for goodness sakes, not hurting anyone...

Then on another note I can see it from your dad and Brets perspective - it is horrid and unattractive but hey I wore it too LoL

i put the nail polish on anyways wether my parents get mad or not lol. Although im a guy, i blieve guys are able to wear black nail polish as well. As mentioned in this topic, im trying to be my own indivisual too so i have made my own desicion on wether to wear black nail polish or not. If my parents tell me to take it off ill just goto my room and stay there because i dont wanna hear them yellin lol

what do i think about black nailpolish? blah. i think it would make me or anyone else seem evil. i prefer white nailpolish, if you ask me. but what do i know? my dad won't let me use nailpolish. tough.

awww that sucks. i love black nail polish, but i guess if your dad says so, you should. its too bad though, but just listen to him, he has the best intentions for you, even if you think theyre wrong. though i dont see anything wrong with it, i agree with what bob said about protecting you from sterotypes, i just hope that was what he meant and not that he just wanted you to be like everyone else or adopt a certain style because he said so. but probably its something like what bob said.

Aww!!! think of yourself as lucky, my dad is too afraid of me, and I don't know why. He'd let me bow down to satan if I wanted too (He's A strong Catholic believer) NOT THAT I WANT TO THOUGH!!

But my mom is actually going to go buy me black nail polish soon. I really think it looks neat. of course I have to pay for it, but between school and riding the bus home, I don't go out much. I'm pathetic, I know.

nothing wrong with black nail polish.. i wear it all the time and i dont think its looks 'horrid' however if u dont want to get in trouble u should probably take it off.. but otherwise wear whatever colour nail polish u want.. who cares if someone else doesnt like it, do what makes u happy..
