Good idea or bad? Running...

I’m so sick of living here, I hate this place so much, It’s so negative. Not just my suburb but this whole city, the whole country, the people and their stupid values. I seriously have to get outta here. So at the end of this year I’m thinking bout getting on a plane and going to America (America chosen for immigration reasons only) and never coming bakk to this godforsaken place. Is it a good idea or am I just running away from my problems? Can people give me advice.

I don't think I can stay here much longer, its very negative, I'm always been pushed down. And I never feel safe, I can never be myself, it's too dangerous. I gotta get outta here. :(

So, you think your place is bad, well compare. I live on an island that is just a tiny dot on a map. this tiny island, even being so small, is curently amongst the most dangoures places i the world, thanks to drugs an holland(that's where the drugs are intended to go). the politics here are more concentrated on fighting each other, that to govern this island. the other 4 islands belonging to the netherlands antillies are almost as bad, but tell the world it's all cause of this island. we used to have ways to travel out of here in no time, but just like everything else, politics forced the local airline to shut dowm, so we are basically stranded. prices here are increasing every year, and people(sorry to say) are getting more stupid every year. even the politicians are getting more stupid. basically, this island is F****D.

Bush is the biggest problem in the US. ;)

I agree with ashlee. You can't run away from your problems. If you leave them and later on come back to the they will probably be worse.
But America is good but its not all that great. We have alot of problems here too.

I know that you can't run away from your own problems, but I want to run away somewhere safe where i'm not being threatened daily by violence, drugs, gangs, rape, general hate and psychos in the community. And there is a blanket of silence, esp in my family. I don't really need to get out of Australia, just away from here. But the further the better.

America is no different, really. In fact, all the people I live around only care about themselves. There's a lot of racism here, especially from my parents, though I don't fall for that kind of crap. Trust me, you're not escaping anything really.

The same issues come up here too.

I hate it here too. Maybe you just need someone to be physically there for you, in which case, a new move would be great. But if you're trying to run away from something you caused, or your past, you won't find happiness here either. Everywhere you go people will misunderstand you. Its just something we do, I guess.

Teys- there is a difference between rational and unrational fears. Walking down the street and getting threatened daily by old psychotic or alcoholic men wanting sex means that my fear of being raped is somewhat rational. How do you face something like that?

OK I admit i'm running from a lot of other stuff too. I just want to see what life could be like if I'm not being pushed down by certain people.

Thanx everyone for trying to help. I still don't know. I'm gonna wait til the end of the year, try to figure some shit out and if all still sucks i'll be in america in the cold season i guess.

i know how you feel, sept i'm being held down by over protective parents, and i am getting out after i pass this school year, i think you should know you have a place to live before you just up and leave, make sure you know what you're gunna do, make sure that you will have someone to help you along in the forign land. email me if you need to talk about this more
