ADULT RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS

I have this guy who I have met, and I really like him alot, I am falling in love with him. He tells me he cares for me, and that he is "slipping", he tells me he loves me too, but, sometimes I feel like he is playing me. What should I do? I have asked him, and he tells me he is not, he is just slow at this thing because he has been hurt in the past. I believe him sometimes and sometimes I feel like a fool for trying to make it work. Can anyone help me figure this out.

in previous relationships has he been known to cheat or have you found anything suspecious? Do you trust him?

I truely dont think he is cheating or would ever cheat on me, we were friends before we started getting closer. It started out as just an internet friendship, and the more we talked the closer we became.
The only thing i have noticed that could be considered suspicious, is that he is going to come and see me but he keeps putting it off, he told me once that when he did come here and see me he was sure he would fall in love and I think that is part of the problem, he is scared of that thought.
