I have known one person to have ALS. It is a disorder that effect the function of nerves and muscles. I work in neurology and have only known of one case in my area. He was diagnosed when he was in his late thirties. He has now passed. ALS is a terrible disease. It is usually not a disease u see in children. It's more common in men as well. People usually will live 2 -5 years after the diagnosis has been made. Has she had a second opinion? How was the diagnosis made was it from the results of a EMG or has she had an MRI? There are different diseases that have the same symptoms of ALS. ALS is a very hard disease to diagnose. If I can help u in any way please send me a privare message and I will try my best to help u with this. I am so sorry to hear about ur cousin. Take Care! E-mail me anytime!
