I really want to know how many people have the wrong idea. not saying mines perfect, but it's heckuva lot closer than what I've seen so far...

If you're looking for the term/title gothic (wearing of black clothes, and the slitting of wrists blah blah) let me tell you this: there is no such thing.

Goth as a stereotype, has gone WAY too far. Goth is a state of mind. I can be gothic, but wear bright colors, and such.

My brain just died... this is a very rare occasion. I can't think... I lost my train of thought... >(

    Ashley has the correct answer
    and
Lipton has the correct and I
    must say brilliant answer,
for the so-called “Goth” of today.

    Got Goth
    or
    Got Wroth

So, "who" has the wrong idea?

Goth has almost nothing to do with dress. Its all in the attitude. Goth is also a style of art and building. I don't know where the "Goth" way of dressing came in. I know some goths who dress like preps. Its all in the attitude.

It is a type of art, but some people use it to describe a way of dress/attitude.

Blahhh..went through the suicidal shit and cutting. Got a completely different haircut, I wear black eye liner, I don't have pale skin though, I wear chains, baggy clothes and I have piercings. But I'm not a goth. :)

here where i live and where the school i go to is...gothic are people who dress all black and dont keep clean and worship satan...i used to think they were freaks...and werent worth talking to and that i had more time on my hands than to just do that...well i made friends..that were so called gothic..and they were jsut like me...they liked the things i did and believed in what i did to..the just dressed different....so i think the term gothic is taken way beyond the true meaning....
but i think the true meaning of gothic
is one who performs evil acts and worships the devil and hurting them selves...piercings every where... and everything else that falls under that...just in todays society...thats the meaning
