A friend of mine got pregnant and should be having her baby in a few months. She is 17 and she's happy that she's having a baby. But even if she wasn't happy, I wouldn't feel sorry for her because she wasn't on birth control and her and her boyfriend don't use condoms, so she was asking for it anyway.

it makes me sad and ashamed to be called a "bastard" but in fact, that is what i am...

my mom was 16 when she had me. she is now married with my father and happily caring for me and my brother.

i think its degrating and disgusting when ppl discriminate teen mothers. i would like to vomit in their face and tell them to go to hell because thats how i got life. thats why i am here on this earth today.

yes becasue my mom got "knocked up" < absuloutly crude and insulting!

I am not one, but I respect most teen moms. I don't respect the teen moms that constantly say, "Yeah, I'm 13 and I have a kid. I'm such an adult. Blah blah friggin' blah."

Otherwise, I have no problem with them. There is one at my school (middle school, jr. high) I don't know her, I have just heard of her. I have no idea if she got raped/wanted a child/did it to piss off her parents. I just know that she was pregnant a few months ago, now, she probably has a child.

I am nearly 19 weeks pregnant...so I guess you could call me a 'Teen Mom in progression'. I'm a bit nervous about how it will all go, but i'm mainly looking forward to it. If there's anyone who has gone through this and could offer me some advice or a friendly person to talk to then PM me. Take care all x

I didn't mean that toward you.. Sometimes people accuse the teen mothers for being 'sluts or whores' when they were raped... I know that's not the whole case because some want to become mothers at a young age...

My sister always wanted a baby. And she got one, she was just thirteen. They called her a slut and a whore, but really she was just a chavette, and I thats what they do, (Unless they've all been shop lifting basketballs in my area). She ignored the age restrictions and didn't use protection, but she wasnt very smart. She got pregnant again the next year. She couldn't work and neaither could the father (1 year younger). She couldn't go to school but didn't miss it much because she used to skip it anyway, never the less we got bored one day so I devised a simple spelling test. She couldn't spell contraceptive(Surprise surprise) but the horrifying thing is, she couldn't spell water either. Since then shes had 4 more little...treasures, one after the other, like a production line. The father was apparently the same for all the children, plus 2 more he concieved with other girls. Shes thrown her life away really, although she wouldn't agree. I suppsose she'd only get a crappy job anyway.
I think that you can fall in love when your young like that. Sometimes you both want to have sex, sometimes your pressured into it and sometimes your raped. Accidents happen, especially to people who are uneducated. If schools taught children properly and from a younger age, instead of skimming over the subject, their would be a lot less people getting 'knocked up'. And why is that offensive?

I was 18 when I had my son

JPM Your right in a sense tho I hate to admit it ...I think there is a BIG difference between 18 and 15 tho....maturity level wise and physically. See at 15, I wasn't mentally or physically mature enough to have a child and I personally can't see how any 15 year old is. But at 18 - I had finished school, I had a job, I had moved out, I had a partner who was older and established and was willing to put in the hard yards to make a family and a happy one at that. Three years down the track we are still happy, I mean its had its moments like all relationships do but I wouldn't be with out him or our sons....

Also a thing that differs is Im from Australia - from my understanding our Social Welfare System supports people like myself and even younger havign children, we are given flats, income, free medical services and pretty much anything you name handed on a platter (maybe times have changed but Im open to be corrected)

However I believe this is very different in America....I mean I was paid a bonus on having my son and was then paid a fortnightly, sufficient too mind you income whats the deal in the States? All I had to do was give birth - and not be working.

Just curious as to the differences as JPM pointed out you guys can't work until 14/15 when Im pretty sure here its 13.9......

I think teenagers under 18 who are immature enough to get pregnant should have to move out and work full time to provide for themselves.

That would not put an end to teenage pregnancybut it would help if they knew that daddy isn't going to pay for it and mommy isn't going to help look after it too.

As you can tell I am really against teenagers who have kids. I think it is very selfish and unfair on the child.

Also a teenager who has a kid is losing out on perhaps the freest years of her life.
