Plagerized Poem

Damn. Can we do something about these plaigerizers please?

I'm all for the black mark.

Scarlet letter, branding, whatever you want to call it. People with established accounts wont want to start over.

For instance, if I was found to be a plaigerizer and nothing was done, very few people would ultimately know and I could carry on my business, but if there was a mark on my profile or by my name, say a red "P" like an award or something, people would know I have plaigerized. I then have two options, I can continue on with my mark and try to redeem myself or I can start another account.

The great thing about this is that if people start other accounts they have to start from being an unknown again. I wouldnt want to trade in my "status," for lack of better word, by starting a new account. Starting over would suck! That is punishment enough for people not to plaigerize in many cases.

I am not suggesting ban them, it really is impossible to do so. I just think something has to be done and I also think we deserve to know who has been found guilty of plaigerizing, even if the mark is only on their profiles for a 90 day period.

We could always hang them.

But I guess we don't want to be TOO violent. I think a "bad mark" would be a good idea.

Also, if someone plagiarizes, and is kicked off the site, who cares if they come back? Chances are, they'll plagiarize again, resulting in being banned again.

I think we should black mark these people and expose them rather than brush it off and cancel their account

I brought that up a couple weeks ago in a thread and everybody shot it down. :(

I do think that would be the best way that way people know that the poems they are going to read may be potentially plagerized.

But hey I only brought that up weeks ago.......

If someone is banned from this site, isn't their ip address banned too, so they can't come back?

Finally! We're thinking logically! =o) This is a flame that's been lit under my ass for some time now. Most of the people who are guilty are teenagers! I know I'm not old, but they only care about getting the awards, not the love for writing. It is really sad... I say we go after them with pitch forks and torches... burn their house down... Take their first born! Something really needs to be done! EMMA you're going DOWN! Okay.. okay... Maybe I'm taking it a little too far... sorry.

They are banned when moderators can do so and yes Babyblew it is thier IP address that is banned, however its not rocket science to change your IP address unfortunately so there is no guarantee these people can't come back as members...

Im with the above person too - we're coming up with some great ideas to combat this problem - see what we can achieve when we come together?
