Plaguerizing- we have ideas now what?

"how do we bring it to the attention of the person or people who are the ones who actually take the ideas and put them to action?"

This (making a post on the forum) is how... and despite what some people seem to think, making many many threads about the same thing will not make it more likely to happen.

But despite all the complaints and issues we have had about this nothing has been done or... er.... NOT done either.

No one will give comment on what's going to happen, if there is a plan of action in place, if they want more feedback, or if they just want us to shut up and let us know they arent willing to do anything (I guess when I say "they" I really mean Janis, but he just got back, so I understand why he hasnt jumped on the issue).

A lot of people are VERY passionate and intense about the plaigerism issue, myself included, and it would be nice to have our concerns recognized. People keep making threads because there is no change and no update.

    That's all.

I agree with Bob. I enjoy coming on here and actually find a great writer and read their thoughts. It inspires me to write and gets the wheels in my head a turning. I would like to see the ugilty be punished that is all. I can not stand fake people!

    *sigh* sorry I said anything

(and no the part about many threads wasn't directed to you or I would have used your name, Tabitha)

I'm sorry there have been no concrete answers about this. Janis has just come back and is trying to get organized.

No worries, Tabitha. I really didn't think you were snapping, I just felt bad that I hadn't clarified that I wasn't targeting you. I understand everyone's frustration at the fact that nothing seems to be happening.

We (all of us) just need to keep in mind that Janis just got back from a long vacation (He actually was able to do some things for us while he was gone) and needs to catch up on what is going on.

Plus, people can make new accounts. It really solves very few problems.

Please consider putting a mark on the profile, at least for the first offence before terminating the account.

There are a lot of benefits to that plan, but I am sure you have read it in other threads.

I would like to inquire as to why you and Dainz seem to be so against the mark on the profile. I posted this on another thread about the same issue:

"I'm all for the black mark.

Scarlet letter, branding, whatever you want to call it. People with established accounts wont want to start over.

For instance, if I was found to be a plaigerizer and nothing was done, very few people would ultimately know and I could carry on my business, but if there was a mark on my profile or by my name, say a red "P" like an award or something, people would know I have plaigerized. I then have two options, I can continue on with my mark and try to redeem myself or I can start another account.

The great thing about this is that if people start other accounts they have to start from being an unknown again. I wouldnt want to trade in my "status," for lack of better word, by starting a new account. Starting over would suck! That is punishment enough for people not to plaigerize in many cases.

I am not suggesting ban them, it really is impossible to do so. I just think something has to be done and I also think we deserve to know who has been found guilty of plaigerizing, even if the mark is only on their profiles for a 90 day period."

I know that this is your website, so I dont mean to be "pushy" in any way, I'm just overly passionate about the plaigerism issue.

Thanks so much, Janis, we have been awaiting acknowledgment on this issue for a long while, and welcome back :)

I thought that there were only 3 poems from Hailie that were found to be plaigerized, not that it matters much if it was just 3 or half of them, but it would be nice to know how much of her work is original and how much of it isnt.

I have been shocked at the number of people still claiming she's the creme de la creme. People obviously dont know about her offences.

That's why I think it would be great to have a mark, everyone knows.

That's why I thought that maybe a trial mark might be best, I see what you mean, but at the same time people wont want to trade in their hard work and awards (if they have any, like Hailie for instance).

Anyway, thank you very much, Janis :)

So, Janis, you said that the first time they would get a warning and then the second time they would get their accounts terminated, but what I dont understand is are you talking about the first POEM plaigerized, or the first time they are found to plaigerize in general.

For instance most plaigerizers dont just steal 1 poem, they will have stolen many. Does that count as the first offence? I am thinking that's what you mean. I wish there was more we could do, but I guess there is really nothing else.

Oh, come on, I think I'm a bit past "twit" to most people.

    I also graduated "fucking retard."

Depends on whom you ask I guess ;)

He's fine with me until I start hitting on people, then I get yelled at for being "cutesy," but you know what? That's almost a term of endearment coming from JPM, I don’t see him calling anyone else "cutesy" ;).
