too late?

ok about 4 months ago there was this guy thta really liked me and asked me out i really like him too but my friend did also so i didnt wanna ruin our friendship me and the guy stayed freinds but not for long then we stopped talking and i got upset now 4 months later i was read our convos from online n i realized iwas a real b*tch to him and it was jsut an excuse to talk to him i guess n 4 motnhs later i feel bad but tis too late to say sorry..right? but now its still 4 months later n i really still like him we talk but only sometimes i dont know how to get to know him better or give him a hint i like him im so confused becaue i think he got the wrong impression of me...i want him to see what im really like but how?
