dus ne1 hav ne advice about wat 2 say 2 sum1 contemplating suicide? i hav a frend hus suicidal, i want 2 help so badly and seein my frend like this is killin me bt i dnt no wat 2 say 2 help
plz help me any advice is appreciated im desparate

My best advice is to get them help. If you made a promise, then this is one that you need to break. Talk to them, find out whats going on. Try to give them ideas to keep them happy. Randomly call them and just talk about anything funny that has happened. But get them some kind of help.

dont just tell any adult, talk to him first cos if u tell and he dusnt want that it might just make things worse. try to talk to him bout it and if he dusnt want to talk just be there for him physically let him lean on ur shoulder and kno that he isnt alone.

Black mail him... if he believes in Heaven and Hell say if he kills himself he will go to hell... meh, it might work.
Just think of different ways that make him oblidged to stay alive. Make him a list of aims to do, instead of him plotting to kill himself.

Also, you can get a little complexed with it; tell him suicide is illegal and punishable (cause it is).

just always be there for him, comfort him, make him feel gulty if he thinks of suicide, tell him how selfish it is, (but in a nice way) and tell him that you would miss him heaps and stuff!!!

I some what agree with Nano. I have friends who have been or are suicidle. and I know how much pain you, Rachel, are going through. Like I've said before, No matter what you chose to do, if you are emotionly unstable yourself, you are going to hurt him/her. My suggestion(which worked for me) Find someone YOU can trust, let them be there for you and let the carry some of the burden for you. But make sure it stays between the two of you, cuz the last thing you want is someone to start spreading rumors.
Then you talk to your friend as ofen as possible. Give them something to live for. Never say you will leave them. Get them to talk as much as possible. Keep hinting about getting help. I'm sure they will come up with a thousand reasons NOT to get help, but that just means they want it more. Even if they try to push you away, DONT LET THEM! Stay with them always, stay with your friend.
Now, if it got to bad, I suggest telling someone. But between you and me, I never did. It was too hard so I know how hard it will be for you. Luckly, all my friends are still alive, but I regret not telling anyone cuz I could have saved a life IF they did try something.

thanx 2 every1 hu posted! robyn u wer rite urs was long bt as helpful as others. tEYS i miss fuckin them wud make it beta bt my frends a girl and dnt think shed reli appreciate it. i wish i cud tel sum1 bt shes tld me that if her parents did eva find out that wud b the thing that wud push her over the edge cus she cudnt deal with them noin. yesterday she took 7 tablets in the space of a cuple of hours wen the box says nt 2 take mre than 3 a day! im reli reli woried bt if i tell sum1 and then she kills herself i cud neva live with that. plz keep postin i need all the help i can get and again thanx 2 every1 i red all ur comments and intend 2 use the advice thanx xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hmm.. Thats tough... but if she does try something and you never told anyone, how guitly would you feel? Babe, you need to tell some!! Even though she may not want you to, try talking to a councelor. When talk about about wanting to do it tell them to change the record and then walk away.

You really cat convince someone suicide isnt the answer. They have to relize it on their own. I was suicidal for the longest time the only thing you can do is tell them to get help and tell their parent(s). All you can really do is be there for them. Thats really about all you can do. I have lost a friend to suicide so i know how hard it is.
