Is it possible to copyright a drawing/cartoon? Is it worthless to do so? And, how can I do so? I went to copyright.com.au and had no clue what I was doing on the site... any help would be much appretiated.

And sorry about the spelling in the heading.

Well, I think that the situation is a bit different. Poetry is very specific, and because of how computers work it is very easily to simply delete the original authors name and replace it with your own, however cartoons and drawings are harder to duplicate and there is a much lesser chance that they will be stolen from you by another artist claiming them.

On the other hand, I am sure that Mickey Mouse is copyrighted.

Firstly, everything you do is automatically copyrighted after it is made or written as intellectual property. I dont know if that goes for artistic property, you may want to check, but it should. If you have documented proof of when it was made and you can prove anyone else wrong that claims it after that date you could sue them and it would count as a copyright violation. I dont know how you would prove a cartoon, but you can try to register it somewhere. They generally say that it's not worth getting poems copyrighted because of the automatic rights you have to the work, so I dont think it's worth getting drawings done.
