IS SUICIDE AN UNFORGIVABLE SIN??

im so confused.....i dont think suicide is an unforgivable sin but a lot of people are telling me it is...and a lot of people are telling me it isnt....PLEASE help me out.....thank you

There was a really long discussion in here about this before...it might be awhile back, but if I were you I would take a look at it.

The answer is really up to you and what you believe in. To me, it is an unforgivable sin, and you go straight to hell for it. I think of it this way not only because I am Catholic, but also because when you think about it, you have to pray to have you sins forgiven. Yeah....you can pray right before you do for forgivness but it's not the same! It is taking your life before God intended you to go, and by doing that you are telling God to F off basically and that you're going to do this yourself. Therefore, the "devil" has taken over you, and suicide is an act of the devil.

This is just how I feel. But seriously...go through some of the older ones and find where we talked about this before. Some people had some really good ideas and points and all that for their argument.

but all of your sins arent forgiven if you have to ask for forgiveness about every single one...theres no way, people would be praying just about every minute of the day, people have dirty dreams, im pretty sure there is something wrong with that in God's eyes....and arent all sins equal anyways??

Yeah sure, in the eyes of God suicide is a sin. But really, within the Catholic religion, was isn't a sin? I am a Catholic and I hate it.. stupidest religion ever.

exactly....i mean just about everything we do these days is in "God's eyes" considered a sin...so how could we have everyone of our sins forgiven if we have to ask for forgiveness on everyone?? i mean, we wouldn't catch half of them....i know i probably didn't make any sense to you guys....but in my little brain....it sounded good to me lol....

imo, i think that every sin is forgivable if you are truly sorry for it. suicide is a hard thing to be sorry for if you do it. maybe if what you did took a while and as you were dying, you realized you didnt what that to happen. its a hard queestion, one that ive thought about quite a bit. ive decided for myself that its best not to try and see and just to try and go through life because thats what god really wouldve wanted from me. you know what they say, if you think it might be the wrong thing to do, just dont do it. i think thats actually some good advice when it comes to this. instead try to make your life better instead of taking it away with no chance to go back if you were wrong.

and also on the matter if murder and suicide are like evenly bad, like someone said before, you are choosing to end life for someone else when you murder them. if you think of life like a gift, i guess it would be worse if you took that gift away from someone else.

hmmm....well, i believe suicide is a sin because God plans all our lives and we have no right to interfere with his plans and end our lives just because we feel like it, no matter how much pain we're feeling. But, God doesn't send us to hell just because we commited a sin if we ask for forgiveness. There's a contradiction though. If we commit suicide we don't have the time to ask for forgiveness because wer'e already dead...hmmm..I dunno, it confuses me too. To be on the safe side, just don't commit suicide.

If you're that bad off that you have to take your own life..
And like her-^God plans our life,but maybe he planned on some people to commit suicide..So he could take all their pain away..And they wouldnt have to live life being depressed,or worse off.some peoples lives are much easier than others.

And I believe God wants everyone to be happy.

oo just thought of something. maybe, if you believe in it, more like you go to purgatory. there is the chance where you can say that you are truly sorry and are forgiven. maybe thats what could happen, but i still dont really know. again, just best not to do it at all.

suicide is not a sin its just an easy solution to a problem.

I believe if you forgive a person for committing that sin of suicide then its forgiveful but if you dont then you should try too so basically its a forgiveful sin you just have to take the time to forgive them for what they did.

For my religious beliefs it is, its the same as taking another person's life or the life of any living creature in vain - you will not be redeemed to paradise...but your beliefs are your own and you're entitled to that, just wanted to share mine :o)

Suicide is a sin, yes. It's also stupid.

However, if you are a true Christian, and you commit suicide (highly unlikely) then you won't go to Hell. Once saved, always saved.

Look its wat ever you believe really but dont committe suicide though. Look every one here has their own opinion to it cause of their believes and my believe is that if you were to do it then god will forgive you as long as you accept it.

No, I don't believe it is an unforgivable sin. God... God forgives us, no matter what we do. Once you are His, you are saved... no matter what. Crazy, the love/patience he has in him. However, please don't commit suicide! It isn't unforgivable, no. God forgives no matter what the sin...
