Yeah good call. I'll copy and paste your idea into the mods forum.

actually you're right and I was just bitching out georgi n rachel's topic for that
(sadness/depression: HEY GEORGI AND RACHEL or something, obviously a directed topic and belongs in message forums)

Born, people complain to us in new threads when there are too many ill placed threads...and so it's work no matter responding to them.

    Better educate the masses.

    Born:

    because it's annoying.
Some people take this site seriously and are already annoyed enough that most of the topics posted in the forums are completly pointless, and when the most insignificent are added to forums where they don't belong.

not to mention they're disrespecting the site by breaking the rules.

This post isn't asking for more, it's making a suggestion to stop the problem or make it easier for Ann (and the other moderators) to deal with

I actually think it's a good idea, it'll keep everything a lot more organized.

I would be willing to do it, I'm on all the time, I'm sure that Lipton would be up for it too. Bob Shank is another good idea, but he's not on as much as he used to.

well, first I'd like to say thanks! I'm glad people are, for the most part, happy with what I (and other mods) have been doing. Sometimes it seems like most aren't (I know you'd all rather me just leave the swearing alone...)

Anyway, I think I'm missing something in JPM's first post. "...lock the original thread with a final post about it being moved" (paraphrased) and then what? let them start a new one? or delete it after a certain amount of time? As far as I know, we cannot copy threads and that would just defeat the purpose of the "move" fuction. We'd still have a thread in the wrong place. I have, on occasion, posted that I would move/delete a thread after previous posters had edited posts to verify they had read it.

Anyway, it is a good idea. It just needs a little clarification (at least for me... I'm just having a dumb day, I guess..)

There is a forum that I mod, and whenever I move threads it gives me an option to leave a post that notifies people that it has been moved with a pointer to the new location, I think that's what JPM's referring to.

Anyway, I think that's messy personally, it ends up leaving tons of pointer threads in the forums that just croud it.

That wouldnt work for pretty obvious reasons.

Computers dont know what topics go in which categories, and people obviously either A. Cant read or B. Dont care to read, because they post in the wrong categories all the time.

Wow, I was nominated to be a mod!

Erm... yeah... I agree. It seems a lot of people cannot read, or something like that, in these forums.

Where are any of the mods nowadays? The only one I've seen doing any kind of "mod work" is Ann Marie. Sean popped up for about ten seconds to delete a discussion between me and Ismail... but that's been the only "mod work" I've seen here in the forums recently.
