To write a good poem, you shouldn't worry too much about rhyming, rhyming makes you lie. Nobody ever wrote poetry because they were happy so if you are ever upset or in a bad situation, just write. And if you write something, write it down and keep it in a drawer for 2 weeks, do not take it out or look at it at all. Once you take it out, read it.. you will be able to tell if you like it or not. |

I agree, rhyming does not make you lie...it might make you think...and besides, who said poetry had to be true? Is fiction a lie? |

Exactly Charlene! Lots of people feel that you can't write a decent poem if you haven't actually been through the situation. My "Jennifer"series of poems are about my cousin that died... sure I did go through it too... but I wrote poems from her mom's point of view, from her dad's point of view..and even from HER point of view. It's called "Imagination"....you can write about something if you simply imagine yourself going through it... |

I think you are right, when you are heart broken or something, thats the best time when you can write a good poem. you usually have emotions running high and thats the time you can write a good poem.i think you dont have to worry much on the spelling and stuff since you can check it later. =D |

When I write I try to put myself into another persons position. Usually that person is imaginary as well is the event. I picture myself as that person and then try to have their voice speak through me. When it comes to writing love poems...well...heh, that just comes straight from the heart. |
