Promise Rings

Ok...I just wanted to get everyones input on a promise ring. What does it mean to you, or do you just think that it's cheesy and fake? I really want to know.

I want to know because my boyfriend is getting me one for my birthday in a couple of weeks. To us it means that he's always going to be there for me, he's not leaving me, he loves me, and that he's coming for me when I move.

So...I just want to know what everyone else thinks about them.

My ex-boyfriend bought me an eternity ring ... I thought it was amazing ...

I woud really like to know how a guy feels about one. Would you ever buy one for your girlfriend?

i'm not a guy, but i've talked about this with my bf and other guy friends before...to me, it symbolizes that he'll always be there for me whenever i need him, and that he loves me, maybe not always romantically, but he loves me and so i can trust him and go to him. if guys saw it this way i think they would be more willing to give promise rings...but a lot of them see it as a commitment thing...like they're promising to be with you forever and so either they give it and dont really mean it, or they're scared to give it to you because of that.

so i guess it depends what it symbolizes to both of you.
