My 3 Day Nightmare 2 wrecked cars within 24 hours

I just thought I would share my wonderful weekend with everybody because My God I hope nobody has go threw this!!!

The past 3 days have been a complete nightmare. Let me explain. My husband came to New York to pick me up in his mothers van so we could bring some of our stuff out. Everything was on time on track and the van was running smoothly. We get to Ohio and while were driving down I90 the van stops and starts smoking; it made a loud noise. So were my husband not being mechanically inclined was like fuck what happened. I had to tell him I think we blew the motor; I've done this previous when I was a teenager forgetting you need to put oil in your car. Any ways so he calls his mother and shes coming to get us from Wisconsin.

We call the tow truck guy and they come and tow the van away and now were broke and have to sleep in the van. OMG it starts to freeze hahah and to boot it starts hailing. So now were in a van cramped w/ boxes and not much to keep us warm while a storm is hitting us. By 6 am i think I got hypothermia. We call his mother to see where they are because they should be here any time now and I can feel heat nearing my way.

They turned around and went back home because they were tired so now we had to wait another 7 hours for them to get there. They send us over some money to get a cheap hotel for the day so we can stay warm. So the tow company (awesome btw) gives us a ride over there. Finally its now 10 am that I get to feel some heat.

I start worrying about my cats because I had to leave them in the van. I'm pacing wondering if there ok and making myself crazy. Hours pass and its about 12:30 am and his parerents come. Wonderful we can go home.

Not exactly they rented a hitch from Uhaual and uhaul told them it can stand up to 5thousand lbs. So every things in the good. We drive over to the van to get it hitched and the doors are locked. My husband can't find the keys and its snowing outside and he doesn't have a jacket on. Man what can get any worse then this. My mother in law after 30 minutes of searching for the keys finally gets the door open and Jason finds the keys in the van. (great place for them). So all 4 of us push the van me, my mother in-law, father in-law and Jason so they can hook there truck up and tow the van. 2 1/2 hours later and alot of yelling we get on the road.

Even though its illegal to drive in the back of the van my husband and I had to because there was NO room in the truck and that meant somebody was going to be sleeping on the bed in the storm storm . So we opted to sleep in the van while they pull us. We would all take turns so we could have a moment of warmth.

Hours go by and everything seems to be going good. His mother in law gets in and 2 hours go. All of a sudden I feel the van sliding all over the road, It goes on 2 wheels and I'm screaming "OH GOD, OH GOD whats happening" and my mother in law is sleeping in the drivers seet and grabs ahold of the wheel saying "looks like were going for a ride". We hear a loud crash and bump and then were jetted down the highway. Mind you nothing in the van works and the windshield is iced over (were blind to where were going to crash). We do some dancing in the highway and finally end up smashing into the guard rails. I can't get out because its pinned on my side. She asks me if I'm ok and I was just a little shaking. She opens the door and my husbands there white as a ghost and asking if were ok. Everybody was ok Thank god.

What happened was when my husband was driving the truck he hit an ice patch which sent him sliding. The van started sliding out of control breaking away the hitch smashing into them. They sent us flying down the road and they popped a tire while this happened. They ended up on the other side of the road facing the wrong way. They call a tow truck and the nightmare starts over.

Well now we have to leave in the Ohio because we can't afford to bring it home and now were only left w/ a 3person truck (4 people and 5 cats). Nothing is open to rent and she didn't have her credit card on her for the places that were open. So we had to drive the truck home. My husband ended up laying in the back of the trucks bed wrapped up in blankets from Ohio (Norwalk) to Wisconsin. I was stuck in the middle of the both his parents. And couldn't' smoke a cigarette because hes a non smoker. But the kicker is we had 5 cats and he's allergic to cats. So the whole way home hes sneezing and his nose is running and were all running on no sleep. We all start to get cranky.

We get to one of the toll booths and the lady spots my husband and says omg is that a little kid you have wrapped up back there? My mother in law said no its luggage and just drove off. Great now were thinking that shes going to call the cops because she thinks we stole a child and were never going to get home. Jason needed to be home today because he starts Verizon Monday morning. BUT....no cops pulled us over thank god!

Finally around 8pm central time we get home. This was one long 3 days and I'm so glad I get to sleep in my bed tonight.

But my husband and I have to make the trip back down to Ohio this weekend so we can pick up the van and all of our belongings. BOY oh BOY my head hurts and my butt hurts just thinking about the ride ahead of me Again so soon.........*pulling my hair out*

    Day After
All morning long my mother in law was like you don't understand how lucky we are to be alive. She said we should be one of those crosses you see at the side of the road. There was a small cliff on the out side. So if we would have went over the cliff we would have really really been hurt. If traffic was behind us or even a tractor trailer my husband and father in law would have been dead because of the impact of where it would have hit the car. Because of where the truck ended up. Alot of people would have been hurt. Somebody was truly watching out for us making sure nobody ended up getting hurt and there was no traffic around us at the time. Funny too because shes an over the road truck driver and his mother said that usually 99% of the time when she drives that road around that time there is alot of traffic. She doesn't understand how we had a breif period of no traffic and then traffic after the accident stopped and everybody got out. Its like if there is a god he took his hands and held traffic back so we could all get alive. Its really scary thinking if it was 5 minutes later or sooner we all would have been dead.*

Glad to hear that you made it out alive. I've had a few experiences where I'm sure that some one up there was looking out for me. I hope that you never have to go through another harrowing experience like that again.

That has to be the worst weekend. I am from Ohio and the weather here sucked this weekend. Snow storm in the spring. I was actually going through Norwalk on Sunday my son had a karate tournament in Sandusky. We passed so many cars and trucks off the road on our way home. You're very lucky! Good luck on your trip back!
