I can play guitar and I love to also. I have a yamaha acoustic and a squire electric but I'm saving up so I can get an Ovation. I think there the one of the best brands out there. (other than Martins but then again Martins are the best)

    Cool Matthew,
    Love “Evanescence”

    wake me up!
    -wake me up inside
    can’t wake up!
    -wake me up inside
    save me!
-call my name and save me from the dark
    wake me up!
    -then my thoughts arrive
    can’t wake up!
    -before I kill myself
    save me!
-save me from the nothing, I become.

Excellent song for learning I must say.
Not your average song or band lots of
parts in the song, once you got it down
I believe your ready for a band my man.

I play drums and rhythm guitar, some lead.
Here is the list of guitars I have bought in
the last 8 years since my son started playing
guitar when he was 14 now 22 and in
a very popular band in southern California.
His band “Sicklife” a Ghetto Metal band
has opened concerts for bands like, Slipknot,
Korn, i.r.a.t.e., and many other Jagermiester bands.

Jesse, my son’s favorite guitar for live performance
is a “Epiphone Les Paul Custom” and has rebuilt it
for his own unique sound. Here are the rest of them.

    List of guitars;
    Gibson - SG Classic
    Epiphone - Les Paul Custom
    Epiphone - Double-Neck Custom
    Jackson - Randy Rhoads RR-1
    Fender - 50s Telecaster
    Fender - Standard Stratocaster
    Ovation - Legend Acoustic/Electric
    Martin - DXM Dreadnought
    List of Amps;
    Marshall - JCM2000 DSL100 Head
Marshall - 1960BV 4X12 Cab, Celestion spks (Double Stack)
Fender - Frontman 25R Practice Amp Big Nose - go anywhere portable amp

I have spent thousands, plus his Mom has
spend thousands on a complete recording
studio. The list goes on forever, dang!!!
But the spoiled brat is worth it. I am broke! lol

Sorry the post is so long. Keep practicing
ever day until your fingers hurt. Then one
day it may be your turn for the big stage.
Rock On, Jam On and don’t stop until you drop.

Rua Francis, great thread mate, it makes me
want to jam all day long. My father always
said “buy the best and spare no change”

Most of you are under 21 am feeling so old. lol
I think lessons if possible is the best bet for all
beginners. Some can hear a tune and pick out
the cords not knowing them but what they hear
their finger positioning sounds like, a rare gift.
Even with a good ear, cord structure and the
combinations used may sound right but technically
are not. Good instruction when you are serious
about playing guitar is necessary. Good luck too
you all and keep on rocking. “Picking and Grinning”

if you don't mind for sure, lol

you know what? i didnt start playing,am still practicing,as i said i got some books, but am checking about some lessons,am like catching the GUitar for 1 hour total per day,i need some more, yet i guess everyday is better than before,dunno..am really fed up of being the only one who want to do it ,i mean none of the people i know like this thingii.!!! i really like it if i had some
friends that are into the thing.

    anyways...Cheerz

Cs 319 - you can read those posts here,it may help you..still taking lessons as a start is the best.

  • Bogie

No, I do not mind telling you my age.
I think I am in my late 40s now, but
I have no gray hair or a walking cane
    yet. lol

Practicing is playing girl, and yeah
keep steady at it. I found that when
you can play a few bars or maybe
part of a song down real good, warm
up with that and play it a lot. able to
now alter chords knowing the finger
changes the flow starts to become more
a natural feeling the more you play it.
    Making your dynamics “your soul”
free to experiment and express you.

I started playing drums when the
Beatles hit the USA. I think about
10 years old I was. I learned how
to play by putting headphones on
and jamming to records. Later in
middle school I learned how too
play rhythm guitar in a band that
all the members would sit down
and play a few songs together with
    acoustic guitars only.

From then on, I have been in bands
none stop. After high school I toured
thru Canada in a top 100, cover band.
We started in Vancouver and next
    Prince George, Dawson Creek,
    Edmonton and finished in Calgary.
I must say Canadian people are very
friendly and welcome you with open
arms. The band invited to parties at
people’s homes after the gigs, we
rarely slept at the Taverns we played.
It felt like home and with family there.
    Aye!

Good luck and never give up, your music.
Now part of your heart never will it depart.

    Oh that was nice bogie..
a cool long fun carrer though,ur lucky i can say
i love such life,i wish i can do so,or even be a part of this thing, dunno, who knows what future is hiding, the reason behind me practicing Guitar is to sing,i mean i have that tough ability to sing! i love singing, thats why i want to back up myself with Guitar,i love country music too, jazz, and all those bands, beatles,Beegees,Elvis, abba mucis, all of them,i love Sher. Basy,Andy Gibb, all of those amazing people,so am into playing and singing there songs,

duno but i guess you would know about Eagles? especially Hotel California?! thats my no. one song, and am dying to play it,God its amaizng.

    are you still touring?!

The last live show for me has been
about a year and a half ago, in a band
named Silver Wing, a country rock
band. A wonderful lady Tara Ward,
all-original one of a kind songwriter,
singer, guitar player front woman. She
writes songs that sound like classics.
That was one of the best bands I have
    ever played in.

Anyways, are last show was the opening
act for Marty Stuart here in Las Vegas at
    the Cashmenfield Auditorium. The band
split up when Tara decided Nashville is
where she should be, so that was the end
of one good band. dang!!! I still jam with
my man! Andy, one of best bass players
in Las Vegas. We go back as far as middle
school in bands together. Playing concerts
we promoted way out in the dry lakebeds
outside Las Vegas, so the Police wouldn’t
break it up. We had hundreds of people
weekend after weekend till the Police did
break it up, by ripping our stage down and
trashing the place impassable to drive in.
    With bulldozers, they took the site out. ) ;

Wow, I have given my whole lives history
    almost in this thread. lol
Well I told you my last gig, guess I should
tell you my first. Cause it is a funny one,
    so here it goes.

In my first band, I was in 4th grade and
our first gig was at the grade school
we attended. We loaded up the gear
in are red flyer wagons, and made the
talent show. We smoked everyone plus
the Teachers they weren’t ready for us.
We were hot playing Hey Joe and Gloria.
That was funny and I am, lmao right now
remembering it. Thank you for bringing back
all the memories, im loving it. Peace

Yeah, I think that is great you sing and
with your guitar you will be great, keep
picking and a singing, The bands and the
song Hotel California are some of my
favorites no doubt. Going back to the
roots is where it’s at. Jam on it, See Ya!
