Just a thought

Nada, actually the idea in itself is okay, but sad to say I doubt it would ever work out, especially with eleven people...

I dont think it's a good idea, just because the "best" writer is hard to decide uppon. No doubt there will be controversy over who the "best" writer is, just because everyone has their different styles.

I like the idea though, I mean, if there was a way to make it work it would be great, but I dont see a current solution for the problem.

Even professionals cannot decide which the "best" poet is.

There are way too many different opinions of skill and talent to even come close to one author. I doubt the most skilled poet could ever be given the reputation of the "best" because no matter what some one's not going to like their poetry.

It's like music, I can find the most incredibly talented band out there and someone would disagree with me.

Everyone has their own opinions, even the pro's, so an award could not be given for something that was not official.

Then you shouldn't call it the "best poet award". Rather something describing their skill in elaborated styles and such

I still don't think it's worth it though. We have enough awards, some which aren't even necessary (cough-comments award-cough)
Plus I think the Peeps in charge have way to much on their hands with all the suggestions we're making.

The thing is that any type of award like that would be based upon opinion, and everyone feels differently about poetry, what makes it good, and what makes it bad.

Even if the award was just for "skilled poets" who people could look up to, there should be more than one to each category, and they shouldnt really be based on category.

Keep those ideas coming Nada. This one has been raised before and not implemented, but keep them coming anyway.

And ignore Plain if you can.

I just still see a lot of conflict and controversy over the winners, although making the pool of people more diversified would help, hence adding more people would help.

Ultimately, I dont see it getting implimented, although I think it's a good idea.
