You can unsuccessfully pretend you are intelligent, but everyone knows the truth anyway. The TRUTH is that most of the pretentious peoples on this site ARE in fact very intelligent, and that's why they can get away with acting pretentious. If you cannot "back" your "pretentious" behavior, then you get slammed like everyone else.

Being pretentious is obvious:

Claiming or demanding a position of distinction or merit, especially when unjustified.
Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious. See Synonyms at showy.

But some people can get away with it and some cannot.

You, Mr. Bob, are the antithesis of pretentious.
