Women in combat

Personally, i think war is pointless but i also think that women can do anythng men can do and if they want to be on the front line, they should be able to. I don't really know a lot about this sort of thing but i you got my opinion anyway, lol. Lotsa luv, Gem xx

I think in today's society women should be allowed to be in the front lines. I think a lot of women have proven they can handle what has always been a "man's job". I think it depends on the women and her capailities. I have never been one to fight for the rights of women in the work place. I am more old fashion and like the days when the women stayed home and took care of her family. I think those days are now in the past. There has been so many women prove their ability in the military. I think it should only be fair to give them the opportunity to try if that's the risk they are willing to take. Over the years many women have taken on careers that were considered to be a man's job and ended up doing a better job. If you set your mind to becoming a success and are not afraid of danger then anyone can do it.

There have been topics about this before, and basically, I think it would have a negative effect on the soldiers. I also think that females are not physically cut out for war like men are, so I think it would ultimately hold the groups with women back. I support having groups of women that fight, and groups of men, but bringing them together will be distracting.

Any woman stupid enough to join the army deserves the warped honour of potentially getting killed, or killing someone else just as equally as a man does.

    ...

I'm assuming you have harsh feelings toward the army?

You mean against a corrupt Government controlled hired killers agency?

    I sure do.

You sound like an ignorant girl brain washed by overly feministic thinking, the downside to that movement is that people no longer acknolwedge physical differences between the sexes.

Women are not physically capable of doing most of the things men are in combat, and you have to take into effect the psychology of all involved. It's not a good idea to intermingle the sexes in battle.

    haha agreed. (mike)

Though i highly doubt Kevin didn't graduate or meet the standards the army set, a lot of people tend to have ill feelings towards the army.

I however support it fully and have an incredible amount of respect for those who have the strength and will to go through with it. I admire our soldiers and their potential and will to do for their country, for us, the horrific and terrifying things they face.

    but hey, that's just me.

(note-bob: I hardly think they're taking pride in killing. Rather the pain and anguish they experience witnessing and participating in the act for the country and people they love so much)

Been there, done that, had to carry the extra kit. Women and the army don't mix.

On the honour part, Bob, I felt proud to do my part for my country. I didn't just see it as a job.

I'm lucky, I live in a small village. Every bugger here is old, grey, retired and fought in a war of some kind or another. I just failed the old and grey bit. I'm able to walk down any street and stop by as an old fella is tending his garden and ask how he is.. 2 minutes later we're always talking about WW2, 'nam or the Falklands, Cyprus, the Suez (or my own experiences) They are all proud to have served King or Queen and country too.

My neighbour, George, for example was part of the ground AA battery that shot down the first german aircraft over Africa. I relish such tales as it keeps their spirit alive. I appreciate why they fought and also know that their actions give me breath today.

The lads out in Iraq right now don't give two shits about the politics, they're there to free people and maintain the new democratic government. How do I know that? I know a lot of them. The consensus is that they're doing their job, only the vast minority are concerned with the politics at hand. They've got plenty of time to think about that when they come home.

Yeah, put women in the front line on both sides and retreat the men. Within a day fighting will cease and a conversation about men will ensue. That will be the final war. There will be no more fighting -ever; because it's us fucking macho men that start it all and keep it going!

I've said it somewhere else that women only fighting units are fine. The Russians had many women only units during WW2 that coped well.

It's when you mix things up that general perfomance drops considerably.

"I don't think that women should be in combat. Call me old fashioned. Women are not physically capable."

I've actually met some women who can kick some major ass. You'd be surprised at what some women can do.

If women (and there are a minority) can take the same amount of training and difficulty that a man does, then by all means let her fight. If you ask me you're losing a valuable soldier if you don't let her participate. What I most definitely don't agree with is giving women extra slack in that area or not expecting as high of a performance from them as a man. If the girl cannot perform at the level that the men do, she has no business being there. But if she can take all of it while performing at an exceptional level and not crying, by all means let her fight.

Actually Mike, there was a time when i was all set to Join the RAF, even go as far as being a Pilot....a shock though it may be for you, but I actually passed all their tests rather easily...only to fail the colour perception test to the required standard a pilot would need...they were really annoyed to lose me. Thank the maker i didn't get in.

War has always been about politics, and more importantly, the politics of those in control of the masses. I get the same response from poeple like you, who have been in the army...that because i don't sign up, i'm not willing to do anything about those who would threaten our freedom...young idealistic fool i hear you cry. But the thing of it is that I don't trust my government, and anyone in America who trusts theirs after everything that has gone on, even just in the last year, needs a reality check. So with this in mind...why...OH WHY would i go and fight for THEIR political cause when the chances are it's all lies?

Because it is the land where your family and friends live.

We all know politics is a huge steaming pile of bs but that at the same time we wouldn't be here now without it.

Forget the politics, think of those that are worth fighting for.

I think that if a woman wants to she should be allowed. But they should put her through the same training and tests as they do the men, if she passes let her if she fails dont. Its as simple as that.

Interesting coincidence!!! Our class just had a debate on similar subject, I was con towards "Should woman be allow to fight during times of war"...

There is a physical differences between the two sex....

Simple question: Which would intimidate you more? The purring kitten aka women, or the growling lion aka men?

By the way, con won, I just forgot how....

Good point Bret, thing is though, if i was going to take up arms against the biggest threat to my family and friends personal freedom and health...i'd be shooting politicians and Corporation heads, and not other poor lied to people from distant lands.

Can't wait for the make poverty history march in Edinburgh on the 2nd of July...which just happens to be my birthday....i'll be fighting to stop people fighting..
