Spelling...

Hey...deja vu? Didn't you post this exact same post before?

I must disagree. I think spelling is very important since you are choosing to present your poetry to the world. And it's really quite easy to use spell check to make sure you have spelled words correctly, so there's no excuse. So get out there and spell check your documents! And if the spell check overlooks the words, then take the advice of people who call you out on your misspellings and correct the spelling:)

The same here bob! I absolutely HATE it when I make a spelling mistake in a poem...heck even in a thread! It literally hurts me! I have to fix it as soon as possible. It just looks.....bad.

I do think some of the rating on a poem should be about spelling. Sometimes I make mistakes on how I spell something and I don't even realize it. People have criticized me on it yet. But I don't really like when I have to figure out what the word is or actually make sense of what they're trying to say.

You know you don't need to post the same topic in two different threads; all you need is one.

    (haven't read the posts above)

Spelling is necessary for us to understand each other, and if you cannot spell well enough then you ought to go and learn how to spell before you come on a poetry site. Of course, if you're seriously trying to improve your spelling and you take the advice given to you (on spelling), then it should be fine for you to be on a poetry site writing, but if you get mad because someone corrects your spelling on a poetry site, then you should leave. It's as simple as that.

Also, for those who are bilingual, you're welcome to this site as long as you remember to take the advice given and try to improve. If you do not want to write in complete sentences and spell correctly, then you'd be better off somewhere else. I, like many, am also bilingual. I speak Finnish and Swedish with my parents, English with my friends, and Chinese in China. Still, I'm willing to take any advice on my spelling if I spell something incorrectly.

    Just some thoughts.

You can tell the difference between someone who doesn't speak English as their primary language and someone who is just an idiot. I don't want to read poems that start out with "yo wat up dawg" or have anything that resembles that anywhere in it. It is not 'cool' to write like a tard. I don't waste my time reading poems that I have to stop 100 times while reading to decipher what the hell the writer is trying to say. What you write reflects you…so if you don’t mind people thinking you’re an uneducated fool then carry on but if you do then think about what you write and how you write it before you write it. People ARE going to look at what you write and decide they don't want to take the time to read it because I think you lose credibility when you write like a dumb ass.

I Think its not a problem if there were some lil mistakes..cuz you know most people write poems just to express their feelings..and even the spell checker sometimes do weird things like puting // between words and sometimes it also show you some mistakes wasn't even in the poem (I hope You understand me)
and it also happened to me alot even now when i was reading my old poems i found some mistakes i was sure i didnt make them..
and talking about the language HELLO i'm egyption! lol and there are so many members ain't from USA or UK!!!..and though I find them really talented in english

Spelling doesn't have that much to do with it... I think everybody should use the Spell Check but to judge the poem by spelling is just stupid...

    Snakkes...

Spelling doesn't have much to do with it? Are you serious? I have nothing to say....I'm speechless.
