Why do people cut themselves...*jesi*

Stop with the "label" shit. There's no "cutters" or whatever you call them. They cut to cope or MAYBE get attention. Most teens need to find a group or something. So they might call themselves "cutters". Anyways, my point is, don't tell people what they are or aren't.

Jesi early on you said that whoever it was that wrote you back, was judging before knowing...everything you said in your first post was you judging without knowing so I think that you need to step down and not think that you know what you're talking about. And no...if you cut it doesn't make you "goth". Yeah ok so maybe to whoever considers themselves "goth" does it because they feel that they have to, but just because you do, doesn't mean that you are. I use to cut and I never once was ever thought of "goth" for it. So you my dear, need to cool it.

Do you have something against things you don't understand? You label others but your not willing to take on a label yourself. You know what I say "shut the fuck up and sit your ass down" you might actually learn something about these "cutters" if you would just shut up for once. Most of them have more of a life than you do because they believe in something. All you live for is to piss people off. You understand bitch? Stay clean for atleast a week and then start talking shit, but if you start right away then your never gonna get anywhere. I CAN understand what cutters go through as I live LIFE too. My life consists of stressful turmoil too. I have dealt with many problems and painful situations just as the next person has. You can't tell me what I DON'T understand when I live in the same damn world as you do. Everyone has problems and heartache...it's part of life. I can't let a cutter be if they come and announce on a WRITING site that they cut. How pathetic is that? If they post about themselves cutting, they need to be able to take what people say. And anyway, we're helping cutters. If you look on some of the earlier threads you WILL notice that we've 'converted' cutters.

If someone says "btw, i cut before" then I'll let them be, but if they come and say "help me, i cut, nobody understands me, what should i do?" then they're obviously attention seekers in need of some bashing.

I agree that you should just let self-harmers be. But I don't think that they should come on a poems website and flaunt the fact that they cut. It's not something to be proud of and you shouldn't be encouroging (sp?) other people to start. 'Cause by posting threads like 'What do you cut with', it's gonna make kids want to follow the trend.

i read jesi said and it made me laugh, most "cutters" are goths- WRONG! admitttedly you said that some aren't but there are so many people (it doesnt matter what music/ clothes you like) that cut, but yeah i agree that people should not cut as a "fashion statement"

First of all what is her definition of a "goth." she says she is a goth yet she obviously doesn't cut. Do any of her "goth" friends cut? If so why is she bringing this conversation on the chat room instead of with her friends? I think she's just starving for attention.
