should it rhyme or not?

Poetry doesn't always have to rhyme. In free verse, you make the rules on how to write it. But if your poem is going to rhyme at all, the whole thing needs to. If you have all of your poem rhyming besides let's say 2 stanzas, it loses the flow and the poem doesn't sound good. *just a lil tip*

i really like flow and rhyming, but noni, you are right when u say free verse is easier.. it's true.. and it also allows you to write deeper! but still, lol, i like rhyming and good flow

Even in free verse, words should flow together.

to say it's easier, is probably true - but then, the way people rhyme is hardly difficuilt on this site.

    (Some exceptions)

It doesn't matter. Rhyming poems are alot harder and alot of the time you have probels with at least 1 spot in your poem not flowing proerly cause of the rhymes. Want some examples? Check out my poems! lol

oh.. i misunderstood, chris! um i was thinkin of a free verse as being... just writing down whatever you feel!! .. for what u mean.. u are right!! it is hard!!

I agree with Nikki. To me, freestyle doesn't fit in on how I write. I just can't write that way, and I admire people who can.

POetry should be something that expresses what the author thinks or belives. If they cannot show how they feel in rhyme in one verse, but can in the next, that should be fine. There should be no rules. But I, personally, also prefer poems where there is one particular rhyme throughout, or when it is just flowing words.

I love reading rhyming poems, but free verse are really cool too. The rhyming ones have to flow good though, and sometimes thats hard to do

I think that people look at rhyming and think Oh Poem so I like poems that breat the rules and stand away from the rhyming expectancy. I like the idea of doing what feels right to the author

yeah if you have to ability to make things rhyme well, then go ahead because it can sound good, but sometimes there are only a couple of words that will do, like 'knife' and 'life' you see that one a lot, so it is good to have a freestyle poem, you can go into more depth!

It doesn't HAVE to rhyme....i know i use rhymes in lots of my poems but when writing those i found it hard to find words to rhyme....

and yeah i also write freestyle poems and i like other's feestyle poems as well.

    Peace!
