why are people like this?

ok my ex boyfriend dumped me because his football was making him lose his time for me and he told me that he was gonna miss me to much and that he thinks about me durring his games so i mess him up and that we should just pick things up when ever football is overwith!... so i agreed with him and even tho i took it pretty hard i was ok with it in a few days ... then i found out he was going to be hanging out and i was (surprisingly ) ok with that ... but then i saw his name on msn and it was like " ******* your amazing bff!" then i got a lil worried and then 2 days later they were going out.... and football still isnt over with.... and the biggest catch is.. i live a street away from him and she lives more then 15 minutes away from him ... and he still had more time for her then me..... can you tell me why people are like this?

He didn't have the guts to tell you he had found someone else.
Forget him & move on, that's your best bet.

I've never seen somebody be straight forward with dumping somebody, he was no different - he was 'considering your feelings' or in other words, avoiding the awkwardness of telling you that he was either bored, didn't feel like it was working out, lost love for you etc...all the general harshness which derives from a breakup.

In other words, he's a coward and you can do better.
