New Forum Penalty

Janis has introduced a penalty system for the forums.

When a mod deletes a post, they can choose to attach a penalty to it or not.

For instance: if I see an off topic post in a thread, I would simply delete that post. No penalty.

If I see a post that says, "(name) you're a (insult) just (bad word) off." I WILL delete it with penalty.

These penalties are worth 2 points. It takes 10 points to get your account suspended.

    Any questions?

    suspended for how long?

I believe "suspended" is indefinite. I suppose that after some time, though, a person could probably email Janis and ask him if they could be re-instated.

    oh cra...i mean...

    shoot...

    well...that's harsh...

    I'll behave..

is there anyway one can complain on the penalties..?

    and how strict are you...

Someone just got a penalty by writing "wrong forum" in a topic which obviously didn't belong there...

    That suc..."cough, cough"...

I mean...that is not very cool?:)

funk these funking shotting penalities. : )

It's more about intent that actual use of foul language enslavement.

If you swear at a person with the intent to insult or hurt them...then it's penalty time...

How long does a penalty last?

Meaning, how long is it on your account before it expires? If it ever does.

  • EoB

decades, if I know them right:)

I think we should instead have a monthly insult-limit for each person.

I do really have problems not telling people what I think of them sometimes...

Once upon a time, there was this topic, in which we discussed the pope (the present one) and his rather conservative views upon sex. Then, out of nowhere, came this person, whose name is irrelevant, and wondered why on earth we kept discussing the opinions of the pope, now that he was dead and all...

You have NO idea how I struggled to avoid writing something rather insulting...not to be mean, or anything, but just out of shock of this persons extreme lack of knowledge and understanding.

I almost heard my own voice whispering "gollum, gollum", as my hands slowly reached for the "r"-button, in hopes of then adding the beloved "etard" to it.

How I struggled...I am so exhausted...

But I guess no one really has any interest of this post, which renders it completely pointless...

and i feel like such an idiot...

oh..can I get a penalty for calling myself bad names?

    I am such a moron...

    *waiting*

I think that something else should be implemented into this new form of penalty:

Somehow, somewhere, there should be a place to report said "offensive quotes." You know, like the ability to report plagiarisms, only with these offensive quotes.

    Just an idea.

    I concur.

We all deserve to know where we stand, how long the penaltys will be on our accounts before they expire, and how long we will be suspended for, at least in my humble opinion.

That way we can adequately gauge whether reeming someone is worth the reprocutions.

Enslavement of beauty....i believe that comment about the Pope dying bring of minimal importance, was one of mine....interesting you use it as an example.

Anyhoo...Janis is gone fishing for 7 days, i'm assuming anyone who gets a penalty will also get an email letting them know....in fact i think i dished one out a few days ago for some rascist nonsense...and the person complained so they must get something...we were never actually told...and we didn't ask, stupidly.

I'm hoping that for most of you, it will be such a rare thing that you won't need to be reminded how close to the cut of point you are....or in other words..how many more free insults you have to play with.

I'll post something in the mod forums about this...maybe Dainz knows.

We really are loathe to use them...i prefer sending people e-mail warnings first.

yes, you will get an email when you get a penalty.

    Forum penalty = 2 points

penalty on complained about comment on poems = 3 points

    Plagiarized poem = 5 points

    10 = account suspension

The email will tell you what you were penalized for, so just keep track yourself if you are actually planning on doing something that will get you a penalty.

    lol...

and what if I read some of Jharrisons poems and found them so crappy that I was considering suicide (his poems are great, by the way)...Would I then be allowed to write something like" Excuse me, but I do believe your poems suck ass"...Would that be any better than "your poems suck?

  • EoB

NO, actually KEvin, it wasn't you...:)

  • Kevin

    Well it should have been.

And as to saying someones poems suck ass, well, you'd probably get your comment deleted...but i don't think that would warrant a penalty.

we mods are currently trying to come up with a statement about what will constitute a penalty....it must be worded..carefully....stay tuned.

    Let the semantics begin!!

Hey Kev, I thought you stepped down as an elf... what up with your elven abilities coming back?

  • Eibutsina

1 question...how do you know you have received a penalty?

  • Kevin

Yo Kaitlin, yeah i was all set to hang up my boots, but then Janis changed the rules, and now i feel i can actually do something about people who cross the line.

You should ask Janis about your account sweetie, every time i go to look at your poems i get signed out...it seems there is something about you that gets me off...the site....weird.

    ; )

  • EoB

you get an email saying you got one

  • BaybeBlew

You have to plagiarize twice to get suspended?

    Wouldn't once be enough?

  • Kaitlin Kristina

hehe, I'll look into it ;)

I'm glad that you decided to stick around the keebler family. We're all better off for it, I mean that.

  • Kevin

Babyblew, i think the reason you aren't banned for one instance of plagarism is because there are many reasons why a person might do it. Now all of them suck, but everyone deserves a second chance.

I spoke to a convicted poem theif not so long ago, and they said they'd done it because the quality of the poems in here with the popular people was so high, and they knew they couldn't match it with their own stuff...and they just wanted to be respected and accepted.

Ok, daft way to go about it....but, well kinda understandable...still...they are no more...but a second chance they got.

I think that the elves should hang them by their toes and force feed them cookies until they throw up, then they should be forced to bathe in their own... yinnow... for the rest of eternity.

  • Kevin

I feel my mortal friend and eternal tease, that such a punishment would not by sufficient, given that to merely be in the company of such fine and and wonderous creatures as we Elves, would bestow upon any of your kind such a sense of bliss, as to negate any act of negativity laid upon them.

They should be sent therefor to Justplainme's house to do community service.

  • Kaitlin Kristina

    lmao, Chris.

Kevin, I agree with you. Very good idea.

I've also decided I'm an elf groupie. I, therefore, should get to enjoy their company, while the plagirizers get JPM's.

  • Kevin

There are....certain, requirements a mortal like yourself must meet in order to be an "Elf special Friend"

Are you ready for such trails?

  • Kaitlin Kristina

    Trails or trials? ;)

Either way, I believe I would become a better person for it. I've decided that there is a large possibility hanging out with the elves will either enlighten me in the ways of the world or humble me, both of which would be good in the long run. I also ponder if being intimately involved with an elf would be as magical as it seems it would be. I'm thinking that their powers would rub off on us fragile mortal women who bring them company.

    I'm ready and willing...

    So be it.
