All poemed out...

Hey, I have that problem that all poets face at one time or another - writers block!

I know I need to write something because I can feel it building up inside of me but I can’t think of what to write about.

I’m hoping that something will come sooner or later but until then I wondered if anyone had any remedies for writers block, or advice from experience, or even some topic suggestions to inspire me.

I’ve already tried sitting in a quiet room and concentrating on my thoughts and then jotting down words that come into my head but it didn’t seem to work.
So please any help here would be a blessing.

    Thanks!

    Sounds good... but to where?

    Thanks everyone for the ideas.
I've been a bit busy lately as I have college exams and assignments due in, this might contribute to the fact I can't find inspiration.
I’ve been sitting in my garden this afternoon but unfortunately that didn’t do anything. I will try to visit places but as I’ve already said I’m stuck for time. It’s hard to believe but the part of Yorkshire, England that I live in doesn’t seem to inspire me, maybe because I’ve lived here all my life and I just need a change of scenery.

However, the train idea seems good, as I happen to be catching a train later this week. I catch trains often as my Fiancé lives quite a long way away and in the past I’ve written on the train, so I might have a go then.

Also, I may read the poem by Chris about writers block. A while ago, I tried writing about writers block but I had difficulty writing it due to the writers block, so I abandoned ship.

The last poem I wrote I was verging on writers block and that one was about suffering from the night before the morning after (in other words getting drunk and having a hangover).

I've been given many suggestions, I will try and do as many as I can, and hopefully something will work.
    Thanks again,
    Silver

    Hey vix,
I'm not really familiar with the places you mentioned, I'm in South Yorkshire and if by any chance those places are not, then I won't know where they are, or how to get there...
I too have just taken AS levels and thanks for the support I think they went well, All the best with yours!

    Take care

hey there when i have a writers block i read thru all my old poetry that i havent yet finished writing. its sometimes cool to right spin offs of the original poem, like a part 2, if youre stuck on what to write for!

Ah, writer's block! I get that very very often. WHat I find that helps me is to just sit down ome place that I like and just write asilly poem to get me started. Or I find it helps me to think about the one think I want in life more than anything else - Ture love. Then I just write about what I want my future to look like. YUO know, where do I want to live, WHo do I still want to know. That kind of thing. I also own a rhyming dictionary to help me in ryhming poems when I get stuck!! Good luck!

ok.. so writers block!! what I do.. is.. at the time of writers block, i've probably been writing on the same subject and been in the same mood for a while!! what I do is completly change subjects and think of some random and different topics and then i start getting in the mood and creative again!

    ~read other peoples poems
    ~listen to songs,
    ~take a walk
    ~think of something else
~take a look at one of the topics in one of the many poetry games
~just start writing random words on a page and pick one of them that really stands out to write about

those are just a few things that I do when I'm suffering from writers block.. some of them help more than others but they have all worked for me.

ok, try, like, reading or watching the news, read or watch something that interests you and just... try to write about it. or do that with a book. just write about what you saw in the book/article/...whatever you call a clip on a news show, lol. for me, sometimes it only takes one decently written poem to break my writer's block. you'll have to push yourself to be able to do it, but i think it'll pay off in the end. good luck with it all, though! i'll be cheering on you!!!!!

yeah i had writers block with writing stories, i used to be so good at it, but now i just cant compose a story that anyone could read. I'm sure that when you experience something that you can write about, the words will come to you and you wont have any trouble creating a great poem

    WRITER'S BLOCK??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

When i have writer's block i just put on some music with lyrics that i can relate to what i'm feeling at the moment. It's worked....hope it's cured by now.

    Peace!
