Starting line

I sometimes have trouble starting my poems. Like if it's about something that I have really strong feelings about I can't get it out because too many words pop into my head. Are there any tricks to get started?

Hmmmmmmm. Well, I guess my best advice would be to start with whatever part you think best starts out the poem. I'm sorry I'm not much of help on this one.

when things pop into your head, just write them down... you can sort them out later.

If it's just words you have popping in... make a list. Then go back and group similar words, or make a line or stanza about each word.

YOu cant force words to come out and organize themselves. Poetry needs to flow. Just write them as they come. Or just write all the words that come to mind and then put them together.

Poetry is a combination of visualization, observation, imagination and creative use of language. Visualization means awakening and stimulating the senses within your mind. Poetry requires extraordinary observations of ordinary things and fresh insights to inspire your senses. A strong imagination helps you break free from the limits of ordinary, routine thinking. Your imagination is a bottomless source of original ideas where poetry can grow.

The Poetry provides guidance in the mechanics of poetry such as rhyme, meter and metaphor. These aspects of poetry are blended together with visualization experiments and observation activities to help you express your own unique ideas.

give your thoughts time to collect themselves so you can find out what you really want to write about.

    Peace! :)

I write in jernol books. I start with whats at the top of my mind and go from there. If the beginings not what I want I set it aside and come back to it. Some times its years before I get back to it. But the poems turn out realy well.

I just dont think about it. I know that sounds weird, but when I think to hard about a poem, i cant write it, and when I do it takes forever, so I just write down my feelings and i go from there. If it rhymes then it rhymes, if it doesnt then thats ok too.
