Poetry Analysis Part I : Song of Myself by Walt Whitman

    This poem is 'free' - there are no poetic devices clogging up the flow and thought process. And so, from what I can remember when I once studied it, it is also representitive of the individualist and notions of the American Dream. Well, that's one interpretation if my memory is correct.

    I love Whitman's images... the fact that he mixes up where he puts the main points of the sentences is unique too.

    My respiration and inspiration, the beating of my heart, the passing of blood and air through my lungs,

    this line i love. i dont know why...
    But his poems are butifuly crafted to make his point, whcich is then taken diffrently be each individaul. which in some points is what the poem is saying.
