i have the same problem.. but.. just come up with a really original name, because that is the first thing a reader sees and if the title is interesting, they will want to check it out!!

I'm really good with titles usually....though i never start i poem with one.

Once it's all done i'll read it over a few times and try to think of something that is either an incedental portion of what the poem is about....or a slightly abstract summation of the poems meaning.

No point in my opinion calling a poem " Love poem about this girl i met at a bustop"...unless the poem itself is written with that much inventiveness.

I normally dont have a problem with titles... they hit me when I'm done. But my poetry sometimes dosent turn out the way I had picuted it when i started... so I get lost looking for a title. Normaly i just kinda guess until i get it right. the title also has a message in it... so i try to usemy title well.
sorry I can't help to much with this!

you can look at your poem and think of the main point or idea that you're trying to have it come across, and then simply make something up. Or you can always call it untitled or use the date until you can think of something else. you can always make something up and change it later when you think of something better.

Use the first line or phrase in your poem...emily dickenson never made titles for her poems so thats what they did for all of her poems...ope it helps
