jelous poets?

I don't think I've ever hit top 5. And you know what, it doesn't matter to me if i ever did. The joy of having people read my poems is good enough for me. Its a kind of complement if they are jelous enough to try to knock it down. Its all on how you look at things.

*sigh* it has happened to me...........

and it's quite aggravating, I think anyways.......

    jealous poets. hmm......

but sometimes i think there's also somebody who REALLY doesn't like your poem and they vote it poorly. Yeah it happens........

    Peace!

    I know Chris...

My poem the river, which I consider to be my best piece, has a rank of about 4.1, while my worst poems only has around 5...

why worry to get rating 1____? don't you ever knows, there are jelous poets that are "short mind", and "loser".....
why happy to get rating 5____? don't you ever knows, a great poet not look for high rating but "respect" from each another, and share with their "experiance".....

    Like ratings matter.

This has happened to me 3 or 4 times. But I don't sweat it at all. The ratings aren't all that important to me, so whatever

The ratings dont bother me a whole lot because I know people out there vote poorly just because they can...it gets frustrating but i learn to live with it..

Oh another thing, that most people don't know is, this poem site is spammed on other sites, hence linked and connected over the internet, so some people not saying everyone vote 1 or 2 or don't even care to read the poem, cause its internet spam.

I personally vote 5 for all friends/favorites on my list but I'll admit some poems that I see are repeat or just plain suck or not even theirs or if their attention whoring/seekers.... I will vote a 1 on, cause they deserve it :) but 99% of the time I vote 5. Tons of talented people out there!!! Another thing is, vote on your own poem at 5! If it makes you feel any better.

Take it as a compliment. They cannot do better by writing, so the only thing these jealous writers can do is give a low vote.

Life is too short to worry about such things. It is better to concentrate on your own writing. Be happy with the thought that you have made it to the top which is by means no easy task and that others have voted positively in your favour in order for you to reach the top. This is already a testament to your abilities as a writer, not how long you stay at the top.

    Be happy.

    Katie- Wrong forum

Enigmatist- probably the best way is asking others to be honest critiques if they read your poems- it helps you improve on where you're doing wrong and tells you what you're doing right... but poetry is of the inner soul so you should know yourself if its a good piece because it will mean something to you...

I agree its annoying, i think its hapened to everyone who has ever made it to the top five including myself. Baisically i figure that as long as you've put your all in the poem and just it making it to the top five is good enough- its an achievement to be proud of.

Someone downvoted "The Emptiness". I was in the top five sadness/depression poems for two days until it dropped by .3... I hate that.

I've never been on the top five in anything and i've been on this site since 2003. But i've never really cared.

Its sad but people do abuse the voting system, however sometimes its because they genuinely don't like the poem as peoples preferences in poetry can differ. Either way there's not to much that be done about it so just appreciate the feedback you do get for your contributions :o)

I have not been in the top 5 and to those that have been there should be proud to make it that far... To know.... that what was written by the heart and soul was recognized........and to know that it has touched many hearts..........It's but a gift in words for the world to see.

One of my explicit poems was in the most recent top 5 or something like that and then wham drastic drop in votes. It was a great way for people to see my work, but otherwise who cares . I write for my own enjoyment and for those who enjoy my work .Some people just get a kick out of downing you . I once commented on a girls poem that had a 3 and told her I didn't know how she could get a three cause it was a really great poem. A comment of truth means more to me.

    Luanne,

Unfortunately this sort of thing is happening far too often on this site. There are so many people who will just down rate poems out of spite and jealousy.

If you notice, there is now a opinion poll asking members whether or not the voting system should be abolished and has just been put up by Janis who runs this site. The moderators are getting far too many complaints connected with down voting.

One should really be looking at the comments that are recieved as the readers have taken the time to enjoy and appreciate a poem.

    >solution< Find a 1 person who likes your poem for every person who doesn't. And everytime someone gives you an incredibley lame rating. Have a friend give it an extraordinairy rating. ie a 5/5.

I wouldn't call them poets...a poet wouldn't disrespect anothers work in such a way. It's nothing to me as I know they didn't even read it.

It really does depend on the likings of others. Some poems for which I have dedicated less than 5 minutes get rated 5, which I find impressive given the amount of effort I've given them, while others which I wrote with more care, and dedication get 4s and 3s. So, it really depends on what others like.
