can a poem really be concidered a poem if it is no more then a line long? i was just wondering because it seems to me that a poem should be more then a line or two, i guess maybe three. But when ever anyone writes one that short it seems like a quote more then anything. Sure it sends a message, but it sounds like you ran out of energy to write anymore on the subject. I just wanted to know what others had to say on the subject. |

I'm well awear of the fact that there are many types of poetry, but i dont agree, (when the greats do it either) with the poems that are just like a single line long. thats all I'm saying, I'm not saying that they should be a million lines long, but i am saying that a poem should have images and ideas and thoughts that make you question and think. what ever happend to making the reader think? I know one line can do that, but that then is a quote, not a poem. |

I agree with backrose. I think that yes, there can be poems which are short and profound, but that they should be posted as quotes. |
