People should be concentrating on their writing, bring out all their feelings from inside and write with emotion. |

I also notice that some churn out material so that they get to certain award status without bothering to think about the real purpose of writing. |

i totally agree with what you all have said. just think about it though those awards won't mean anything to you later on in life, not everyone is going to keep coming to this website until they die, it's meaning less! some extremely good poets out there don't have those gold awards, it's not a symbol of who's the best. if you just write your poetry to your best and make sure it has meaning to it then it will possibly mean something to you as long as you live, you will have the passion for your work. people may remember you for your passion too. it's like artist, the best ones didn't actually become famouse until they have died, actually i don't think it's like an artist just i liked the sound of it in my post so i'll keep it there. but any ways the compassion and meaning to you should be the award not any little gold box with a letter in it. |

I agree, I haven't exactly seen anybody ask to be put into favorites, but it's not right. The way they're asking for gold isn't right, and they don't deserve it. And Steve, what's wrong with 12 and 13 year olds writing? There are some very good poets out there who are that age. And isn't it nice to just write out your feelings? Maybe those "life sucking" poems really do have a meaning to them. I thought a poem had a great meaning when it came from the heart.. |

some people get the awards for favorites by just asking to be added to someones favorites, plus people have them self in thier favorites ( which i think is also wrong) and ari i love your poems, ignore the 13 year old comment hun! and those "if you read one of mine i'll read one of yours" i normally don't like entering those, just i have a little lately because my normal commentors haven't been around (which is sad) and there are a few poems i wanted to get more people's oppinions on, plus i like to read so a few times i have done those, but not because i wanted to get a million comments i just truely wanted more opinions and they are willing, just they haven't held their part of the deal go figures. |

I am not targeting 12 and 13 year olds, not entierly...I am just saying a lot of their poetry (if you can call it that) sounds the same...there is no difference in A LOT of their work...it is quite annoying to see every kid on this site writing about sadness....not that many difference in many of the poems I see...and it tends to be from those 12-about 15... |

Not all 12-15 year olds write about sadness. Most of mine are about love. Yes, I know, they don't really vary much and each are alike, but I'm writing how I feel. Whenever I write it that's how I feel. And it's not like it's a bad thing that they write about sadness. I'm sure they're people on here who do have it bad, and they're using their poetry to escape. |

Somebody said life sucks. Think of it this way, if life did not suck then writers would not have so much material to write about. There are always pros and cons to everything in life. |

Ok, I have all the gold awards, But to me, they dont matter, I write because I enjoy it.. It doesnt mean I dont pour all my energy to produce a good poem, I love writing poetry, I find it a brilliant way of release but also I like to learn new words etc from other peoples poetry.. |

Also, I write poems about lots of things, I dont just write about sadness, I prefer to write dark poetry because I love the imagination I can put into it and the freedom you have whilst writing.. |

Sawyer!! ok first i dont see why age has any thing to do with it.. especially now days.. i mean we have children 4 or 5 years old speaking as well as someone 20 or 21.. an 11 year old may have more imagionation and be able to express what they see better than someone the age of 30.. age has nothing to do with it any more!! And if you think most of the poets on this site are garbage maybe then you need to find another site where the writting is better for your reading.. your not forced to come to this site i dont think.. thats just my opinion.. bye bye EJ |
