do you rate your own poems?

I suppose it is if you would rate yourself by your own judgement on how well you think you yourself did on that poem...

    Peaces.

I generally don't rate my own poems, although i wouldn't give every poem a 5, but i feel that i could be swayed by how much effort i put in to the poem and other factors so i leave it down to other people, but rating your own poems isn't a bad thing, as long as you do it honestly.

No matter how proud I am over a poem I've written I wouldn't rate it myself. I post to get feedback on my poems, to see what other people think, I already know what I think about my poems.

I don't usually rate my own poems but if i did then it probably wouldn't be a 5 because I don't like most of my poems.

Lol, I don't really vote for my own. I have on a few, cos I have really liked them. But i think it's unfair to vote for your own, then its not a honest vote.

Nope. I don't rate my own poems because the number doesn't really matter to me. So I don't mind if I have a low rating on a poem...honestly who cares? Having a number below your poem high or low doesn't really define much except what OTHER people think. And I don't really care what other people think...I write poems for me. So a rating doesn't really matter to me that much..

my featured poetry has to be 4.5 or better to be there so if one of my poem is a 4.4 or something like that, i will rate it so it becomes 4.5 so i put it on my featured list. thats the only time lol

I was in the same situation as Michaela, I didn't realise you could rate your own work for a while. I haven't done it though, I don't see any point. I post for other people's views not my own, I can get that anytime, and it's not very encouraging anyway.
I think that option for rating your own should be taken off, it allows people to cheat. Just my opinion.

No, I let others decide what I deserve, whatever grade they decide to give, although I do enjoy getting rated highly, I also appreciate low rankings, but only if they are constructive. For example, if someone gives you a 1 because you did not like that person's poetry, and that person simply does not advice you on how to improve, then that is pathetic.

Isnt rating your own poetry like corking the bat? I suppose if you are honest then its a good way to self criticise.

Well, I never have and never intend to.
It's like rating your own homework in school. You really have to leave it up to the teachers, unless you want the poem to look bad, then I suppose you could give it a 1, but all my poems mean something to me, so I leave it up to others to say how they sounded, and I just enjoy writing them, not rating them!
