Why is it that most...(not all) guys feel that they can't cry...(or won't let themselfs) I've had many experiences with this and I was just wondering. I'd really like guys oppinions...but girls will do too. |

Yep. They just want to represent the tough guy image that other guys have managed to maintain for all this time...lol...to them, crying is a sign of weakness. |

Like ~*Just Me*~ , I am not a dude, but i hate to cry infront of people. It may sound dumb, but I don't like to show my emotions. In my way of thinking, crying or getting overtly angry, or even giddy is a sign of weakness - that you can't control your own mind and what you do. I also don't want to reveal how I'm feeling because I don't want people to take advantage of that. Emotional people lose their judgement. So I chose to tame my feelings and let them out in other ways that won't make me look stupid or weak, while also protecting myself from others. |

I'm a guy, and a lot of it is just pre-programming. You feel that as a guy you can't cry, not only coz it shows weakness, but because u have to be strong to support other people (women) in their times of need. I know this is a stupid way to look at it especially in a moderen world and i don't feel this way, but this seems to be what thousands of years of men acting tough has resulted in. Even knowing this i find that i have severe difficulty in crying even when really upset and in the privacy of my own home. Also past problems have hardened my heart making it more difficult. |

I don't believe crying shows weakness. Actually I think quite the opposite...I find a man (or anyone I guess) stronger when they can cry in front of you. The first time my ex-boyfriend cried in front of me I was in total shock...in a way it made me respect him more as he let his tough man guard down and showed who he really was and that is hard for people to do. |

My bf cries...alot.....more than I do, well more than i let ppl know about....hmmm...Its funny. We have such a role reversal in our relationship. I am the one who wants to go out, watch football, or nascar, go to rodeo, hang out with the boys....and he is the one who wants to cuddle, and complains about me doing laundry the wrong way. |

Some guys cry, and some guys don't. Same with chicks. I'm a chick and I don't cry. I see it as a weakness. And honestly if I had a bf that cried alot I wouldn't hold much respect for him. A little tear now and there is fine, but if you see him blubbering like an idiot over A Walk To Remember. It's annoying...Mainly becuase I want to be the one blubbering like an idiot and having a bf laugh at me and tell me its just a movie. I dunno that's just who I am |

i like it better when guys show emotion and cry. maybe with only their girlfriend but at least they cry in front of you.. it does make them a man more than having to keep their pride and crap. |

As a guy, I must say that the main reason i never wanted to cry was because of my father. He always expected me to be the tough, grown-up man, ready to take over beig the man of the house. I never wanted to seem like i couldnt handle the job. Thats just my reason. There are many others. ~Drew |
