Ok, I was once a cutter but now no more so please don't think my habit is caused by self harm. I have had this habit for as long as I can remember. I pick at the skin around my finger nails until it's red and bleeding. I'm not satisfied until I have done at least three fingers. I hate this habit and I have tried to stop before but I can't!! Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how I can stop?
    Thanks

Here where I live, kids who constantelly bite their fingers, get hot peper rubbed on their fingers for a couple of weeks. I know it sounds horrible, but it works here. you can either try that out, or try doing something else when you get the urge.

I used to do that but then my will power over took my ugrge to make myself bleed cuz i wanted nice nails like the "cool" people in my school but what i did was the band aid thing it really does help and when u feel the urge to do it do somthing that;ll take your mind off it like exercise or eat somthing or go on the comp and IM people so you keep your fingers busy so you don't get bored and start doing it

Thanks everyone for your help. The bandaid idea sounds really good.
