How do you measure a man?

For you girls, what makes a man a man? What attracts you to them? What makes you think "wow, he's really something"? Same question for guys, but about girls.

For me they have to be themselves at all times. The moment they start acting likes someone else I stop liking them. They have to be kind, but not obsessive. I like a man who is obsessive to an extent. Maybe protective is a better word. Protective, but knows that I can take care of myself. Kind, but not all smiles. Smart, but doesn't treat me like a kid. Someone who doesn't mind my intelligence (I am very smart and make witty comments, which turns most guys off). He has to have a sense of humor, but he also needs to have a serious side. He definately needs to be playful, I don't like a guy who thinks he is all grown up. I want someone who is more attracted to my personality than my looks. Someone who doesn't care if I wear makeup, he'll still take me to a fancy restaurant. He won't treat me bad in front of his friends to make himself look good. He has to be a christian and have good morals. He has to respect me. He needs to have selfconfidence, that is the biggest turn on for me...a guy with no pride. And he has to love me for me...

Some (most) may not agree with me on this but If a man is a vegatarian, or will at least go to a demo because he cares about animals thats a major plus. I need a guy to be able to talk about our relationship, and his feelings about it. I need a guy who respects all my views even if he doesnt agree with them. And he needs to be in the relationship because he loves me, not so he can get me to take off my shirt. And look-wise I am hopelessly attracted to punk guys (think My Chemical Romance) which everyone says is wierd cause I am the preppyist girl you will ever meet.

By how kind he is to a child. I believe that any man who has a patient, soft heart for a child can have love and respect for a woman.

not have to try and prove themselves to other people by acting 'hard' be themselves and i love it when i lad is romantic and spontanious(i know that sounds old fashioned)! i love to be treated like a princess and appreciated! (being good in bed often helps too!!)

I want a guy that tells me what he's feeling, when he's feeling it. He has to like my personality more than my looks. A really good guy is one that kisses you spontaneously, no matter who's around. One that doesn't act different around his friends, and one that can make me smile. He calls me just to know how I'm doing, and we cuddle more than we make out. One that will watch chick flicks and cry, because their not afraid to show their emotions. A really great guy, is one that doesn't act all tough and doesn't act like he knows everything.

I already have a guy like that though.

Anyone here read Bitten by Kelley Armstrong? in there a charecter (called clay) is my prefect version, tough, strong and protective. loves loads. but alas. i fear that in a book id where he belongs. you cant have someone that perfect. but it is nice to wonder.
