Am I alone on this?

I go to write my poems, and I think that my writing is alright, and I have friends who agree wtih me on that, so I decided to come here and post my poems but I dont barely even get any votes, or comments, and When I do, It lights me up inside. I read other people's poems, and I degrade myself because theirs are really really good, and I havent written in awhile because of it, so the question is Am I alone on this?

Thank you everyone for the comments, but this is a rather old post. I no longer feel this way and have learned a few things but thank you very much for all the kind words. Elisabeth to answer your question you must log in (evidently) and at the bottom of the discussion board in which you wish to post a topic is "post topic" click on that and there you are.

seriously, I think some people either
    A, can't be bothered,
B, don't have anything to say,
C, didn't like the poem and don't wanna comment,
D, want to read something else of yours,
E, already have the award for comments, so they don't need to do it anymore
or F, they read half way and move on to something else.

I think it's mostly just exposure. If you write it, doesn't always mean they will come.

I write a weekly newsletter for another website and I usually add a link to my poems in there. A shameless plug, I know... but I like to hear what people think. Ratings I'm indifferent to. I think comments are what are really important.

I'll second you on that. I degrade myself all the time, and for good reason. My poems suck!

Hmmm.... Well no you are not alone on this. I know I am a good poet because I love my poetry and it lights me up when I read them. Even if they are written about sad things. But I am not cocky.

I barely even get rated or commented at all. No matter how many people I ask to do so they just look at my poetry and then get lazy and not comment or rate.

I get very down on myself when I have been away from the computer for a while and I get back on and I don't have any new responses.

For a long time, I even stopped writing because of this fact. As well as the fact that the people I cared about weren't interested in even reading them.

This definitly happens to me too. You just can't let it get to you... because it doesn't mean much. Even if people don't comment and vote, it doesn't always reflect on how your poem is. I know that my friend submitted a GREAT poem on this site, one that I thought for sure would be a favorite, but I was the only one who commented and voted. It's kind of depressing sometimes because you want feedback, but just remember that it doesn't always mean something :) Just make sure to comment on other people's stuff that you like, and hey, maybe they'll comment on yours.

When I first started out I didnt get much votes and comments either.

You can go to the "request" forum and make exchanges ...like 5 for 5 or something.
I do that alot, it works!
Also theres people there who will read them and all you gotta do is tell them which poems...its pretty neat!

Im probably getting way off the subject....but owell

    God Bless.

Jessica it depends what you are wrting for. Are you writing to be noticed? If you are then you eed to be posting your poems all over the web sending them in to publishers and wat not. If you write cause you want to wrie then you post them here cause you want to and shouldnt care about the comments or votes
