yeah it might have to do with where you live, but for me i would say when they hit you a lot and hit you hard for doing something that you really should not have gotten hit for and i also think it's an age thing, the older you are i think it should be abuse because but the age of 13 which you are i think you should be able to discipline your self, but that’s me. I guess you have to look it up for where you live or ask and adult or cop or something |

Hi i live in the uk. erm you could ring up childline and get some advice about what is classed as abuse. But i agree, its the intent behind the hitting rather than the hitting itself. your parents are wrong to say its if it doesnt make a mark, because some serious injuries leave no mark at all (ones that can cause death). but yes you should ring childline and ask them. i jist looked it up and got this ; |

you can discipline kids without being abusive. in fact, when they get older, it'll be easier to be disciplinary if you avoid any kind of abuse. |

In many cases of domestic abuse the husband will injure his spouse in means of not leaving a mark, but it's still abuse-for instance-if u hit someone in the temple on the side of their head, no matter how hard,it wont leave a mark. All i'm saying is i agree with the rest, it's all about the intent of the inflicter. |

I completely agree with Bob. In my opinion, kids would be a lot better today if they received a spanking once in awhile. |

its still calssified as abuse if they dont leave am mark i jstu dont think that they can press charges on the person that hit tha victim unless there is a mark bc other wise theres no proof......but yes ur dad or mom or whoever it is that is doing this to u or ur frend or whoever wutever the reason asked this for.....they are getting abused |

DepressedGal I think it's a little late and you have already told us what you didn't want to tell us. As for the leaving a mark, no it does not have to leave a mark, but it is a lot easier for the police to charge the abuser if there is a mark. And it is a lot more likely that it will go anywhere in court. But it does not mean that you can't get help if you are mark free. One bruise, one cut, one shadow, and you can get out of there scott free. But emotional scars are a lot easier to see if you let them show, than any bruise can be. |

Call someone. You may or may not get taken away from your parents. They may just be ordered to take classes, maybe you will get taken away, but wouldn't you rather that than get taken away? And if it's just your father, they may ask him to leave and you can stay with your mother, if she agrees to leave him.Call children's aid. Call the police. There are many places you can call. |
