poem - and looking for story title

I am looking for poems for my self help website (see looking for poems forum)

I am also after a story that I really do not know what it is called but would like to read it again - perhaps it is some type of proverb as well....

Anyway - it is about someone walking down a road, they see a hole, they fall into the hole and someone has to help them out, then they walk down the road, nearly fall in but someone says - don't fall in, then they see the hole, and step around it. Finally, they take another road......

That is a short version of it - what is this story?? Is this a fable or something - does it have an author???
