about not knowing what a prep is taylor?

  • Garrett

In recent years, young people have begun to use the term "preppy" as slang to describe those who appear clean-cut or seem slightly better off financially than others in a given middle class environment. Used in this manner, "preppy" is applied entirely contrary to the term's mainstream meaning stated above, as the slang version most often describes 'nouveau', publicly-educated people absorbed in the middle class hypermaterialism of modern pop culture for cheap goods sold at disproportionately high prices. As such, teenagers often apply this slang label to popular clothing brands not characteristic of "prepdom" as indicated above, including Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister Co., Polo Ralph Lauren, and American Eagle Outfitters.

w.e mood i was in when i woke up. sumtimes i would dress like a bum with sweats and a white t-shirt (hanes best kind i think) and sum timbs. other times throw on sum jeans and a regular old navy shirt. i only get the plain ones that just say old navy i like 2 keep it simple and wear sum ups. i only like ups and timbs basically. i dont wear jordans cuz i know i'll mess em up.... i dunno oh i like 2 wear skirts 2. mainly red shirts and black shirts. just recently got 3 pink shirts....oh and i would wear p.j's 2 school 2...lol

we hate the uniforms so when we can wear regular clothes we do it up. plus we cant even wear earring the boys can have braid in their hair and if they do it has 2 be in a ponytail....the gurls cant have certain hair colors....

I mean if someone walks through the halls wearing a pair of jeans that are torn a little and have writing on them and a black/red t-shirt on. Would you turn to your friends and laugh or talk about them?
