Okay, I know a few ocassional ones is more of a comment to your poems, but when all your poems get rated one in a matter of five minutes then you know someone is mad at you. Somebody got mad at me, i think it was the person i told to stop insulting people, and they rated all my poems one, is there anyway i can stop this from happening again or fix this problem???

I like the thought of not having votes at all. Problem completely solved, and people wouldn't go around saying "my poem is better than yours" and when someone has low ratings they tend to despair and think they're a terrible writer, but if their was no low or high ratings to worry about, there's only comments, which people are usually honest with. You can't hide your jealousy with a comment as well as you can by giving a one and running. Right?

But maybe just having a lock would be nice too...Both would be lovely, and are great suggestions...

yes i agree with you bob, I dont usually look at my rating either it could of been there for a week or two because it wasnt even me who noticed it was a friend, but i was more annoyed by the principle of such an act, then a lowered rating. I put poems on here for feedback, and I guess I might of been more annoyed with the initial discovery of the rating because I wasnt thinking of how little i look at the ratings. But like I said, it's annoying that individuals go to such measures to prove their immaturity to the world. And without the rating system anyone attempting to be malicious would have there name for everyone to see.

    Bob,

You have my full support, but I can see that a can of worms is about to loom. It's going to be bedlam.

But I agree, many other sites don't have a voting system to begin with and have many staunch supporters. I think the system we have now is part of the reason that so many younger writers are attracted as they feel unsure about themselves, their writing and the awards, voting etc. is like a security blanket for them to cling to.

The best way is to have the thing optional and those who don't want it can decide to lock it out themselves, otherwise you will be swamped with complaints and emails I'm sure.
