Site Rule #3

Are we allowed having the poem style in the title? This might be a dumb question, but I would hate to see any of my poems deleted for that reason.

  • Bret Higgins

I have visions of a thousand teenage girls franticly editing poem titles....

  • Brookeღ

I can see it too Bret, that's to funny!

LOL Bret's comment put a wicked smile on my face...

But seriously, sometimes i want to report THOSE poems rather than the plagiarized ones...grrrrrrr

what about mine, it's called "To My *Friends*" cuz you can't put the little (") in titles so i used the stars instead to emphasize the fact that i'm being sarcastic...???

  • Not Bulletproof

LOL! I don't think I have any like that...cos I hate people who do it...but I have one that has '-'s to emphasize (sp?) a word...does that count Bobert? :-)

  • Jacklyn

we can keep the word resived right, i know i asked in another forum of this topic but i don't think it's been answered yet... unless i looked over it and didn't notice... but it's a good rule lets just hope people follow it!

    I have another question. :-).

What if I had a poem dedicated to a certain person...for example, if I have one to my sister...and it was titled, lets say: "I love you. [Kaitlyn]" ...Would that by any chance be breaking that rule? I'm just afraid of losing my account...let me know, please and thank you. :-).

well, Mortie... my opinion is, no, the poems with [names] added like that are not in violation. (I guess Janis and Dainz have the final say on that though).

Things that would be in violation are:

    ~*~*~Poem Title~*~*~*~

Poem Title (long, but true please read)

    *******Poem Title*******

Poem Title (Please Rate and Comment) < that violates 2 rules: bringing attention and asking for votes/comments

Poem Title (THIS IS NOT MINE)

**Although I thank the people that put that in the title, because it makes it easy to search for plagiarized poems!!! LOL

"Poem Title (THIS IS NOT MINE) " ha ha ha ya it makes your job much easier!

    MWAHAHA

So...just a question...since these are in violation...are members of the site allowed to report them? Or shall we leave it up to the discretion of the Mods?

well, according to the first post, Bob is giving them 2 weeks to get rid of the extras. After that point, by all means report them!

again, the final answer is up to Janis and Dainz... but I would say if it is an extension of the title or the name of the person it's for, then you're fine.

I guess I should ask their opinion on the titles of the series poems I have.

I just don't really don't get why it has to be a rule. Maybe people want their poetry to stand out by giving it stupid titles like that. Who cares? Are we going to start telling people to not use catchy titles for their work anymore because it stands out from the rest of the poems?

  • †JustAri†

It's about creativity and originality. Not how many CAPS THEY CAN PUT IN THEIR TITLE or what kind of *()#Decorations#()* they put in the title.

*Using decorations/symbols within the title is very different from having a creative title.

    Sooo...

I see it as a valid rule.

    Take this poem for example:

Lookie at the title. A smiley? A request inside along with the smiley?

  • lisa marie

I know it's a rule, but I think it is an unnecessary one. So it's a rule because it's annoying and makes poems stand out? If anything it makes people not want to read them and there's a lot of annoying things on this site. Such as some peoples poetry, and some peoples user names.

I just don't see the need in kicking people off the site for it. Just ignore it or forget about it. It isn't even a huge problem.

  • Jacklyn

competitions have already happened in poetry clubs but they were fun.

but back to topic i agree that we shouldn't beg people to read our work. plus it's so annoying
