I am looking for serious poets who feel they have enough concentration and dedication to join my club...The club name is "Un Named Poets". I am looking for poets who take pride in their poems and write from the heart. Please feel free to submit a short description for an assistant position or member position.

    Thank You
    -Steve

I think I'm a pretty serious poet.. I'm definitely concentrated on my works,.. I always read and critique a lot of work's,.. not necessarily because I want the favor returned, but i enjoy reading poetry, and believe that if I critique someone elses, i can further find what im looking for in my work,.. like it might make me see something in someone elses work that i didnt, or did, like, but couldn't identify it as such in my own work.. I definitely like critique's and believe I can take them well.. It's only to help, so i never really get offended.. In short, I think I fit the description; maybe take a look at my poems to make ur decision..

    Meh... clubs.

How does a club make you serious? How can you tell?

Do you check them out before you let them join?

I don't just sit down and write something, I let it flow from my heart to my mind, then I just write fluent as water. Poems made from thinking don't work for me very often. I'm just a bard sometimes, but I can't sing...

being in a club does not make one serious....I think it is the atmosphere....I love to write comedy poems, but what I do not like is poems that are just plain stupid....like,when people write a poem, and post things such as "want to read a great poem? then read mine!"...or ..."this is probably my best poem ever!"

I think it should be in the hands of the readers to judge if ta poem (or anything for that matter) is great and vice-versa

I belive poetry should be taken seriously, but I am not strick at all......I just think sometimes people tend to get a little too free-willed when it comes to sharing poetry...like with boasting and bragging..

Bob,I would love for you to be part of my club,if you like that is, I need a role model to keep the members in tact with the tone of the club...since many do not even know me, and everyone knows and respect's you...

    I would be very grateful.

and another thing I want to put in effect in my club is the ban of silly slang words....like LOL,OMG, and even morphed slang like whateverz, and "I got 2 go"....

I think that ruins poetry...although very few people put slang to good use, it is more of a distraction than a help.

    ack.....what a ball buster...

I use "..." because that is how I would say something, with a pause or slight sigh...

    AND

I really do not mean the actual writing part on all levels....it is just that a lot of people on this site think that any fucking person under the sun can write...I love funny poems,I even love humor itself, but one can be funny and still be serious.

so who do you think 'sucks' Walker?

  • Feline Fatigue

you can't really say that if you don't have examples to back it up. You'll get burnt.

that would be 'wasting' in that context, and I don't care what you think. Assumptions are not factual.

by the way, whats being 15 got to do with it?

I wrote that because I didn't care about that sentance in particular you wrote. I do not lie about myself to boost my self esteem, etc. But I will respect your wishes and 'shut-up'.

    Peace be thy name.

by the way, no offense taken whatsoever. you are intitled to your opinion.

you guys are missing the point.

JPM,no one needs a degree in writing to be a serious writer, and although you might have made a few people laugh with that pen in your heart joke, I think it is intirely possible to write from the heart.anyone can pick up a rhyming dictionary and make a poem, but only the gifted can 'write from the heart'. just as anyone can trace a ***** stencil, but only the gifted can paint something as wonderful as the Mona Lisa or starry night.

so you can make all the snide remarks you want to,but I hold true to my comment - which is- not many take poetry as seriously as it should be taken on this site inparticular.

where does it say you have to read poetry to be serious about it?

I admit, the only poetry I like to read from the distant past is George Gordon,Lord Byron, and even then,I read little.

...that does not mean I am not serious about what I like to do. You might read and know all about poetry and poets, but you also might just be writing for the fuck of it. I do not know, I do not even know you,but it is really not fair to say just because I do not read that I am not serious. I am a serious WRITER,not reader. *grin

but I do see where you are coming from,it is just (and I do hope you see eye to eye with me on this) I can so easily tell many kids do not take what they do seriously.

for example, I do not think Vincent van Gogh ran around yelling "PLEASE COMMENT ON MY PAINTING...IT SURE DOES MEAN A LOT TO ME"

that is just plain stupid.(no pun intended)

it is really, REALLY not wise to do that,I for one do not even read poems that have that, nor do I take the person serious...

how can you say that you do?

    and once more,

If you were serious about writing and appreciated humor at all, you would buy and read everything those two writers have published.

    I totally disagree....
