True but I don't know that much about the hurricane so I'd look like an idiot if I posted something in there. I do how ever feel extremely sorry for the people living there. I don't think you're heartless, in fact I think its a very good point. But like I already all I know about it is that its a terrible, terrible thing and if george bush hadnt wasted so much money and soldiers on iraq then people would be able to get the help they desperately need.

  • xRachelx

Yeah some have been trapped on their roofs for 4 days with out food or medication so people are dying. Its disgusting that in such a well developed country they cant even get help before people die. I blame george bush entirely :) but thats just my opinion, im sure alot of you disagree.

um, people are getting raped and murdered and looters are running WILD right now there. it is chaos and the mayer has dissapeared, perhaps to his VACATION IN THE PHILLIPEANS!!!!

  • xRachelx

Exactly, all that people should care about is HELPING them. Not filming them and interveiwing them.

I know this isnt the place, but I have a joke/story/question thing. to tell.

Ok, so, your a reporter reporting the hurricane. And, you are getting some amazing shots, they are going to make you SO wealty. Well,as your snaping away on your camera, you notice a man drowing in to water near you. The face looks familier! Its G. Bush! You could take a picture of the most powerful man in the US, and be famous for taking the picture of the presidents death, or you could save him, and be famous for saving the most powerful man in the US. Now, the question is, do you use black and white film, or color?

Well, I thought it was funny.

ha ha ha..well that is funny...but.....regardless, people are worrying more about themselves then thoser that have been harmed by the hurricane. you wanna know whats even worse? in about a week or 2, the world will have moved on. the short attention spans of ppl this day and age make it so that horrible disasters and such are forgotten quite quickly. and as u can see on the news, something like this shouldnt be forgotten. but let me remind you of the tidal wave that hit a while back. people raised money and everything to help...but it was forgotten in about 2 weeks. the human race is a disgrace upon itself

  • AGirlWorthFightingFor

And that's the reporter's fault, how?

  • AGirlWorthFightingFor

    Who's joking?

In most professional newscasts, a certain grave demeanor is assumed for such stories.

To be honest, I haven't been keeping up with the newscasts at all. I get the bare bones of a story, then I just tune out all the filler. That's what I call the "infotainment." Filler, filler, filler, until the next story comes along.

  • xRachelx

Britt, Im sorry I still dont agree with you. Help has only just started arriving and with all the soldiers in Iraq it just slows down the whole process of saving people. If Bush hadnt gone to war with Iraq and caused many innocent people to die then this situation wouldnt be as bad as it is now.

  • AGirlWorthFightingFor

Have your opinion, but as a writer, I have to defend the use of the word "irony."

"people pity themselves rather than see the world around them."

We call that being self-absorbed. Not ironic.

Its not Ironic. Its real. People care more about their stupid problems "I cut myself" "I cut myself more!" " IM A CUTTER" than thousands of people dying. Why should they give a sh*t, it doesnt effect them. All they care about the Hurricane is the gas prices. *gasp*. No ones thinking about others now a days, just themselves. Well, for the most part. their are exeptions ( like us nice awesome people who have bake sales to raise money).

    BLAH BLAH BLAH

All I see is these people from New Orleans complaining about having no where to go.

There's a whole effing COUNTRY above the United States!

I think they all should move to Canada.

Anyway, enough of the jokes. Why yes, it is ironic. But I see all of you on here pointing it out, and forgive me for asking this if it has already been asked.. But what are you guys doing about the hurricane to help the people?

I personally am not doing anything but hoping for their safety, because there's not much I can do. You see, these little teeny-boppers over here won't get off their lazy bums to get an after-school job or drop a few coins in a collection can when they buy their new cd. So they complain about their own lives, the only thing they have control over. Of course, this is just how I'm seeing things...

And to clear all the sarcasm in all of the above...I care a lot for the people who are going through the hurricane trauma. I've been through it before. Not as severe, but I have an inkling of what it's like. Anything we can do to contribute to this will make a huge difference. They need to pay to put the leve back up, they need the equipment to drain the water, they need machines to get trees and buildings from blocking the street, not to mention all these people out of jobs. And New Orleans is one of the major oil industries, right? I'm not to sure on that, but if thats correct then won't gas prices inflate? There is so much we can do for them, just the smallest donation will do.

Has anyone wondered why all the black people are being descriminated against...I thought we were all equal..silly me! Or, why Bush took action faster on Florida where his brother, a republican is the govener...oh maybe because Luissianna is Democratic...Hmm...Or, or why the black people "looted" a grocery store, and white peolpe "found food" in a grocery store...or, why are there only pictures of black people in the newspaper! Does this upset anyone else? its too bad that I am not longer proud to be American. People were right. The world did come to an end in 2000. Bush came. *tear*

    It's a devastating tragedy.

I hate George W. Bush....he absolutely SUCKS!!! And I knew beforehand that he'd be a terrible president, but he won because of those people who voted for him. Now, I'm not going to say they're stupid, but THEY"RE STUPID!!! Ugh...I wish that it hadn't taken something so terrible to happen to show the people he is not fit to be in office, but now that something has happened, take the opportunity to realize it now... We have an IDIOT leading our country...

And if none of that convinced you, because i do know that didn't contain and substantial evidence, just listen to what he had to say after the disaster. He barely stayed long enough to say, "It's a terrible thing."

Yet..on the brigher side...and I know this for a fact because my mom's best friend's friend is one of the top people for all Home Depots in the country...Home Depot, which had stores in New Orleans that were absolutely demolished in the accident, is paying over millions of dollars to bring in cruise ships to the bay and take in homeless people, shelter them, provide them with food, and give them suitable living conditions....they're having SEVERAL cruise ships do that....

Thank god for charity and sympathy....

And no, I don't think you're heartless, cruel, or anything like that Angelina. You were just stating an observation that actually is true. And in my opinion too, it is disgusting....

People who were once civilized, high standard americans have been reduced to nothing more than sewer rats. It's positively REVOLTING.

Coolor I do agree...I have given response to the hurricane threads so I don't feel like a total LOSER! lol I do agree with you though...that goes for all threads though. Any thread that is worth reading and worth the time spent to reply doesn't get it. Cutters and ...let's call them 'self-haters' get all the response. I don't get it...It's funny though because a lot of people 'claim' to have 'horrible' lives so if what they said were true they'd be able to relate to the way people in New Orleans feel which would normally (I would think) mean they had something to say about it or to them...but that doesn't seem to be the case....funny how that works isn't it...

I agree with the whole racist crap. Im not racist, but there are a ton of blacks who go to my school, thats not the part that bugs me, they are most racist then any of the ppl I have meant, they go around calling girls at my school "WHITE trash" and saying racist comments like "you're doing this cuz Im black!" I realize that the african americans are mad at the way their ancienters were treated, but damn they are treating us half as bad. and I thought we were supose to be equal too! anyhow, back to the hurricaine, the reason most cutters spend time talking to ppl about cutting, is because its a big debate, i guess. Not one person here is saying that its a great thing what happend. theres not much to discuss what do you want a whole thread that says its terrible, everyone knows it was a terrible thing that happened. and who ever said that bush is an idiot, In my opinion, I think you are a 100% correct. he is an idiot, and if anyone would watch the movie bowling for columbine, anyone would see the horrible shit bush, and clinton has doen for us! This whole thing with Iraq is stupid, having our ppl dying out there, cuz bush wants oil, this is making me sick, I hate to say that I too, am ashamed to be an american
