no, he's said many times that Janis is the Latvian eqivalent of John. I don't know if Krumins is as popular as Smith, though, but still.

Janis Krumins was a pretty famous basketball player in times of USSR. All other people are from Lithuania, Latvia, Russia etc. - they were playing in USSR team. That Janis Krumins was 2m tall.
