hell yes, JPM you are absolutely right.
My highschool english teacher use to say the reason we find certain things humorous is because we see teh contrast in them , contrast between how stupid they are and how smart we are. Basically we laugh at things because we "know" we are better than that and wouldnt do the same thing

I think that this quote is simply saying that humor is needed most in times of sorrow, yet that is always the hardest time to be humorous.
