What to do ...

I have a very weird problem and maybe someone can help . 2 months ago my brother punched my brother -in -law in the face . So my sister called the cops . My brother went to jail for the weekend and then he was released to my parents custody (he's 39 years old with a family) he had to live at my parents house for 2 months . Not his first offence of course . So he decided to go to rehab (drinking problem) He says he wants to kill himself and although some of my family thinks he is talking through his ass he has already tried to do it before . Now he is in rehab which I am so very glad but he is so bummed out . My problem is my sister won't drop the charges ( of which I do understand) but she calls me all the time to see what is going on . I don't want to get in the middle of this fight cause I love them both . But yet I know we will never be a complete family again cause they now hate each other .. How do I tell her I don't want to get in the middle without sounding like a b**** .

wow, i can understand how hard this must be for you, and my best wishes goes out..especially to your borther..and i do hope he gets better, but my advice is to tell your sister that although you do love her, you also love your brother, and becacuse of that you dont want to get in the middle and that you understand why she's upset and why she needs to talk to you, just say you can come to me with anything and any problem...but please dont come to me, when you need to say horrible things about someone i love

dont know what else to say to you, I hope things do get better, as far as your bro, he probably needs to realize that at his age, hes gone through the hardest times, and if he goes off and kills himself now, its not showing a good example to you

So very true , he is a headcase I must say but I do love him . Believe it or not the last time he went to jail was because he said he was going to shoot himself and his wife got scared and called the cops . So they threw him in jail and he lost his guns (thank -God ) and whatever fines he had to pay .

But this time it was my sister who called the cops and her or her husband pressed the charges . He has a severe temper and a terrible drinking addiction ( which he denies ) and I think he is going to rehab only to get a lesser fine or punishment . I feel he will never stop drinking , but can only pray he will . I think it is so terrible to have to fight between family but I think my best defense it just to stay out of it .. Thanks guys
