forget sadness

Everyone needs to stop writing such depressive poetry. It does no good. Read my writings and you'll get my point when I say to forget the sadness... write about the good in the world and all the beauty that lies within us all.

who says it does no good? it does a lot of good...writing poetry is the only way some people express their emotions and it helps them and others who can relate to their poetry. how can we forget sadness when this is a sad world we live in...

(if you want people to read your poems, go to the request to read forum)

SArah, that was an arrogant and ignorant statement. Life consists of both sadness and happiness. You cannot write about one and forget the other. 80's rock tried to write about just the happiness, and because of it we got a little band from seattle named Nirvana, who didn't choose to mask over life with sugar coated fantasies. Sometimes just writing about life means writing about depression, not all people experience the same.

"Everyone needs to stop writing such depressive poetry."

First of all, who made you high and mighty to decide what people should do? Poetry isn't a habit, it's a way of expression with no boundaries.

    "It does no good."

Quick to judge, aren't we? If you've ever written a heartfelt poem, you'd understand the relief of being able to speak without saying a word, but to lay your own emotions out right in front of you.

"Read my writings and you'll get my point when I say to forget the sadness..."

    Okaaay..

"write about the good in the world and all the beauty that lies within us all."

Not everybody likes to write about that. Some of us like to expose the ugly for what it is, instead for leaving it disguised and sugarcoated.

Look around, no one agrees with you...just because we write depressive unhappy poems means nothing. They may be true, but unless you've felt the pains of depression, you've never truly felt a pain. I urge you to read my poem 'You Don't Know Me'....The name explains it a lot. You'd learn a bit from reading it, I'd say. Becareful what you say in your opinions when they're half witted and stupid.

Umm.... I basically only write sad poems, its a way to EXPRESS EMOTIONS, we can write about anything we want, and if you don't like that type of poetry, don't read it, just because you don't like one caterogorie of poetry, that doesn't mean everyone can no longer write that type of poetry, what if someone really does have a troubled life and the only way they can make it is by expressing themself by poetry then your saying that they shouldn't write it anymore..... umm what do you want them to do.. hurt themselves? All i'm saying is jus because you feel a certain way and don't like something, doesn't mean someone else cant like it, So sorry if i offended you, but please don't complain about people writing a certain kind of poetry, just don't read it, thats completely ignorant.

Sarah I Hope You Weren't Serious, I Think Writing About Sadness Is One Way To Release Your Bottled Up Emotions....I Was a Very Depressed Person If You Look At My Past Poems And Even a Few Of My Recent, But As I Wrote Through Sadness I Released The Sadness Within Myself, I Can Honestly Say I'am Fully Cured Of Depression....So Maybe You Should Think Twice Before You Say "STOP WRITING SAD POEMS!" Because You Never Know Even a Sad Poem Could Change Somebody's Life xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

People write what they are feeling at that moment! I write sad poems when I'm upset so that I don't go into a major depression! If you don't like dark and sad poems then don't read them! :: huffs:: sheesh...I write lots of dark, but then again I have lots of funny and happy poems to, read my "Sparky Puppy" as an example of my funny poems.

    no poetry is no good.
all poems have meaning and feeling for the writer and poetry is a way, especially for me to let out my emotions in a way that usually only i can interpretate.
this world is made of happiness and sadness, and we all have to imbrace all of it.
    it's a part of life.

    i agree with you Ari
how can a poem do no good?
if it helps someone, then it's good.
not everyone's lives are filled with happiness and poetry is a way that people can express themselves, they shouldn't be put down!

a great opinion Ari, totally agree 100%
